Congressional Dems reveal new plan for '08

In a lunchtime conference call with reporters, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said, "we believe—and our Beltway political consultants confirm this—that what the American people want is for Democrats in congress to lie down and let President Bush piss all over us." Pelosi confirmed that President Bush has agreed to tell Democrats it's raining while he relieves himself.

I don't think so. They're trying to blame Bush for their spinelessness in standing up to him.

4. Short answer: no.

I think the plan is actually to give Bush all the rope he needs to hang himself, trying to set the table for the '08 elections. Trouble is, by not opposing him they a) make themselves look like total wimps, and b) are now (more) complicit in the war and in handing Bush dictatorial powers. That's not why I gave them money, I'm pretty sure.

5. I would like to ask.....

Just how these people that are complaining that the congress is not doing anything, especially the senate would suggest they do this....First tell the senate how they can get a bill to the floor. After all the republicans are filibustering them, and won't allow them to come to the floor to get the up and down vote they accused the democrats of denying them. When the democrats were in the minority they did not have enough votes to stop the bills. The majority of democrats is not large enough to over ride the republicans. I wish you would all set forth right here, HOW democrats can over come the republicans stopping the bills from coming to vote.

THEN THE NEXT THING IS....how in the hell do you get 67 votes to over ride bush's vetoes...

When you get those two things figured out please tell the senate so they can get the bills this country needs passed. Until then you have no right to complain.

6. They didn't have any trouble getting Bush's FISA expansion to the floor.

Which is what this thread's about. Bush "tricked" them into writing and passing a bill that basically exonerates him for warrantless domestic spying. Somehow they managed to marshall their forces sufficiently to move that giant runny turd through the process. Go fucking figure.
