"I'm an independent, not a partisan". I laughed so hard a Kraft macaroni noodle flew out of my nose.

so many of our free republic brethren were so enamored of Stephen Colbert. "He's one of us! Finally, we have our own Daily Show!" They were ecstatic. One of our intrepid DUers hijacked their laudatory Colbert threads. Unbelievable. There was one poor lone voice who kept saying "he's mocking us." And he/she was shouted down. And how long did it take poor GWB to catch on during the Washington correspondent's dinner when Colbert delivered his brilliant skewering? Poor GWB. He thought an O'Reilly clone had come to kiss his feet.

23. That was a strange event- the press lovefest with an undertone |
|
of fear, corporate pressure, and mutual disdain. Then there was Colbert hitting so hard with satire that it was clear what back bends the journalists were performing to keep their (access to evil).

just to remind myself it happened. It was a totally surreal event. Bush was only inches away. It was bizarre theatre. And, you're right. The audience was stunned into paralysis. Do we laugh? Who will see us laughing? What will they do to us? And he's also attacking US. For not doing our jobs.... What an event.

Remember during the Rice/Secretary of State acceptance hearing,I think it was Boxer who said, "I got a problem with your lack of concern for the truth" OReilly spent a whole radio talk show on how Boxer said "I have a problem with your lack of concern for the troops" A caller corrected him, and he lectured the caller on getting her facts right if she is going to call in. He's from another planet.
