Dubai to Buy Large Stake in Nasdaq - Expected To Become Largest Single Investor
Dubai to Buy Large Stake in Nasdaq

By JOSEPH B. TREASTER
Published: September 20, 2007

The government-controlled stock exchange in Dubai, the fast-growing Middle East business center, is expected to announce today in Stockholm that it plans to take significant ownership in the Nasdaq stock exchange in New York and the London Stock Exchange, people who have been briefed on the transaction said last night.

If the deal is completed, Dubai would become the first Middle East government to own a large stake in an American stock exchange. It also is expected to become the largest single investor in Nasdaq.

The deal by the Borse Dubai would give Dubai a stake of 20 percent to 30 percent in Nasdaq, the largest electronic stock market in America, and about 30 percent in the London Stock Exchange, according to people who have been briefed.

In exchange, Dubai would hand over to Nasdaq the OMX Group, a stock exchange based in Stockholm that also operates in Helsinki, Copenhagen and several other countries in Scandinavia and the Baltic States.

1. Here's what Sen. Schumer had to say about this from the article:
Senator Charles E. Schumer, Democrat of New York, who helped lead the opposition to Dubai’s investment in the American ports, said last night that the deal, which would make Dubai a major player in New York finance, would “raise serious questions that have to be answered.”

“Should any government own any part of a major U.S. stock exchange?” asked Mr. Schumer, who is on the banking and finance committees in the Senate and is the chairman of the joint House and Senate economic committee.

8. Yes - Dubai - same folks who started BCCI - BFEE fascists.
And I don't trust Schumer's role in this as he has undermined Kerry too many times over the years, and he HAD to know that Kerry is the only one who would have used the oval office to expose this entire network.

Oh great the king of Dubai, and his government, is going to own our largest
stock exchange. Hey, maybe we should sell the rest to Al-Quade. Then we wont have to fight them over there anymore just work for them over here. :sarcasm:

11. This is BFEE - Dubai $$ started BCCI. Bush, Jackson Stephens, Marc Rich, AQ Khan
and scores of armsdealers and drugrunners.

And let's not forget there are a few powerful Democrats who have supported and enabled this group all along, and have undermined the work of the honest Dem lawmakers who uncovered and investigated this network of fascists.

5. Is NASDAQ Still Around?
A couple weeks ago I walked past NASDAQ's fancy headquarters in Times Square and the place looked all but deserted (and this was at 2pm on a weekday afternoon...YES, the markets were open). I remember 10 years ago how every investor I knew couldn't invest enough in that place or had the latest, hotest IPO tip. Then, as expected, the bubble burst and all those "paper millionaires" were wiped out within a year...and they haven't recovered since.

NASDAQ is like investing in penny stocks...a game for the player...a gambling casino.

27. Dubai is set up as the Capitol for global fascism.
Wave goodbye, NY. With the Bushes AND Bin Ladens AND BCCI moneyfolks all part of these ongoing events and profiting the MOST from these events.......reasonable people can conclude that all is going as intended.

16. How soon before Gonzo and Turd Blossom get hired by Haliburton..
... to help prepare Haliburton's headquarters move to Dubai?

And then later Dick Cheney moves there with them after he resigns to take over Haliburton again.

Oh, and at that point perhaps the Dems will try to subpoena them and/or indict them?

Nah! Dubai will say! We don't honor extraditions any more with you guys! Too bad! And if you try harder to do this, we'll BREAK NASDAQ too!

21. I'm pretty sure Bush, Cheney, et. al., will end up in Dubai.
There will be far too many very angry and bitter people with guns in their Homeland.

George W. Bush will get a big palace, a closet full of pretty uniforms, and a subservient staff of who will kneel and curtsy and say "Yes, your highness" to his every whim.

"Turn up the air conditioner, bring me my beer, and call upon my dancing boys! And, oh yes, my biographer is stopping by later so that I may recount to him my many heroic actions of 9/11. It was my trifecta, you know..."

"Yes, your highness."

12. Well, what do we expect him to do
With the billions we give him every month? Spend it on pricey baubles and supporting fundamentalism like the al-Sauds? The Emir has done a good job of embedding Dubai in the world economy, for a country that has nothing but oil to offer. He's reinvesting profits in diversification of his city-state's economy, why is this a bad thing? Don't we want secular states in the Middle East that are connected to the rest of the world?

15. Dubai is an incredible place
I get through there several times a year for work, and all I see is investment and construction. I think EVERYONE is investing there - that city is really going places. Definitely the jewel of the middle east.

All the same, I don't know how much I like the idea of another government owning something so vital to our economy.

Does anyone know if any OTHER governments are already investors?

24. Of course - Kingdom Holdings has large shares in AOL-TIME/Warner/CNN
The House of Saud and House of Bush and all their BCCI pals are just one big happy BFEE family.

And they didn't buy control of most available newsmedia in the 80s and 90s because of their desire to inform the American citizenry of their intentions to institute global fascism.

and after Rove resigned Bush said I'll be on the road right after you...oh just great they're getting away with destroying our country.
I feel sick, 'scuse me.
