Jeffrey Toobin on NPR's Fresh Air Discusses bu$h V GORE and the SCOTUS. Great Interview!
A behind the scenes look into the court case that changed the world and a look into the current makeup of the court. WORTH LISTENING TO! (30 minutes long)

Jeffrey Toobin Profiles 'The Nine' Inside the Robes

Fresh Air from WHYY, September 19, 2007 · With the moderating, centrist voice of Sandra Day O'Connor now gone from the Supreme Court, a conservative counterrevolution that had been stymied for 20 years has now begun.

So says Jeffrey Toobin in his new book The Nine: Inside the Secret World of the Supreme Court. His book is about how this counterrevolution developed. It's also a behind-the-scenes look at the court, its recent decisions and the personalities of the justices behind them.

The Nine is based on interviews with justices and their law clerks that were given on a not-for-attribution basis — meaning, in plain language, that Toobin heard stories, opinions and analyses directly from the horses' mouths, but isn't allowed to reveal who said what.

Toobin is senior legal analyst for CNN, staff writer at The New Yorker and a former Assistant U.S. Attorney.

it made the election in 2008 a turning point in our country. if a republican gets in the supreme court will strike down over a hundred years of precedence. they have already overturned a 1891(?) ruling. it looks like the court will over rule on the 2nd amendment leading to the repeal of the gun laws...god help us all if the democrats do not win.

5. His discussion of Roberts and Alito were indeed frightening. The pisser is
they shouldn't even be on that court because * didn't win.

As far as '08...this is what frightens me:

Vote-flipping reported on Diebold machines in Memphis RIGHT NOW

Nearly half of voting machines tested fail

Montgomery officials tested the 5% of machines that drew complaints; 56 of those 125 machines failed.

9. FYI: I just checked, and that book is available at Audible.com
Here it is: http://www.audible.com/adbl/site/products/ProductDetail.jsp?productID=BK_RAND_001238&BV_UseBVCookie=Yes
I notice that it's "abridged", and that's usually a "turn off" for me, but I may give it a shot. I was just getting ready to renew my Gold Plan, so it would set me back only 10 bucks.
