7. Members of the House are 'allowed' to vote 'Yea,' 'Nay,' or 'Present'

12. It's just a way to get Members out of their offices and to the floor
It doesn't mean anything, and we did the same thing when we were in the minority.

6. Are they trying to slow down events so as to arrange something maybe?
It does seem like an odd move.

8. Why is it that a Republican minority seems to be more strong than a Democratic majority?
Why is it, that when we're the minority party, we endlessly capitulate to them, and vote with them all most of their shittiest bills? Then they get in the minority and filibuster EVERYTHING.

10. because if WE threaten the "nuclear option"
They will take it over the edge.. and Congress will be harmed by it. (Repugs don't give a rats ass)

9. They've been doing this for awhile ...

It is primarily a move to try to prevent information from being added to the Congressional Record that might reflect poorly on them or their votes. One of the more dramatic incidents in recent memory involved the Bankruptcy Bill when Republicans opposed entering into the record evidence and testimony from bankruptcy lawyers who argued the bill would have an extremely negative impact on so-called traditional families. Not wanting to be seen as "anti-family" the Republicans didn't want that testimony entered as a part of the official debate.

I don't know what the specific objection is for the last couple of days, but believe I am fairly safe in concluding someone was trying to enter testimony or other evidence that would reflect poorly on a Republican position.

11. The minority always does this
We used to call it the "pledge vote" because in a sense they're voting whether or not to say the pledge of allegiance. It's also a way to get Congresscritters out of their office and onto the floor.

Incidentally, we did this too when we were in the minority
