Just on the face of it, what part of NORTH ATLANTIC in "NATO" doesn't this idiot understand?

Secondly, if you want to combat "Islamic extremism", this ain't the way to do it. How about trying to address the underlying causes, and what makes it so appealing to many? How about tackling issues like poverty, racism, etc?

2. Europe would not be cool with Israel being in NATO

They don't want to inherit a mutual defense treaty with Israel. Israel is way to complex an issue to be having a defense treaty with them, even though the US has a de facto defensive policy towards Israel.

Also, Singapore wouldn't want to be in a treaty with Israel; it might cause tensions with their own Muslim minority population, and with Malaysia.

Western Europe is now richer than the US. There is no reason we should be paying for their defense when we can't educate and provide medical care for our own people.

Same goes for South Korea, who is the flakiest "ally" we have.
