All I care about is that the Democrats continue to push for bills like Webb's measure |
|
Voting for stupid "I'm more patriotic than you" resolutions like Cornyn's is an annoyance -- but only an annoyance. If the Democrats can snag more Senate seats this November, important bills like Webb's will become a reality. Then John Cornyn will have nothing to do but sit in a corner and suck his thumb.

1. Insert Democrats in place of Republicans. |
|
Once the minority of House and Senate are comfortable in their minority status, they will have no problem socializing with the Republicans. Any farmer will tell you that certain animals run around and are unpleasant, but when they've been fixed, then they are happy and sedate. They are contented and cheerful. They don't go around peeing on the furniture and such." Norquist

2. This is DU's newest outrage moment |
|
about as meaningful as the Senate resolution itself. That said I am seriously disappointed by Senator Leahy's vote. I want to add that this was totally predictable. MoveOn chose to gore a sacred ox. I'm into that, but only if it's done well.

The body of the text was pretty good. They had no control over when the ad appeared either, but the insinuation that General Petraeus as General Betray Us, was too cutsie. It veered into name calling. They could have run just as critical an ad, but done it better. It goes back to how you gore a sacred cow. For instance, they could have run in large type, "General Petraeus, don't abandon the truth and your honor in Iraq" and then run the body of the ad.
I predicted that this ad would backfire the day it ran. I know lots of folks are running around claiming it was a success, but just look at all the divisiveness it's caused within dem circles. I don't think that's success.

7. I agree, cutsie can work but the setting and timing is extremely important... |
|
meanwhile, after reading so much today I think perhaps all the attention the repubs forced on an ad I hadn't even been aware of could now easily backfire to our advantage in order that justice finds a voice, one that will be heard.

3. This is nothing but a political dog and pony show.. |
|
I'm more outraged that any time was given to it at all over which way people voted. It means NOTHING in the scheme of things. Nobody will even remember it happened a month from now. This is just more distraction from the REAL issues at hand. The Democrats took it away from the repukes as a political weapon, so now they can STFU about it.
