"Tree" (poem)
Tree am I
Reaching to the sky
Branches reaching wide
Across barren plain and mountainside

Stripped bare like the hills
My branches no longer fill
With leaves the light has made
Harder to sit in my shade.

Neglected am I
No water, dark skies
Liberty my name
My boughs droop in shame

Too long since I've been fed
truth and peace or the bloody red
Tyrants and patriots all
Will strengthen me when they fall.

Once full of life, I once stood so tall
Now drying and dying as liberty falls
I am tree and I thirst
My hunger has never been worse
-Dissident
