Bush: MoveOn.org ad on Petraeus 'disgusting'
Edited on Thu Sep-20-07 01:05 PM by sparosnare
Imagine that! Didn't say a word when his party mercilessly attacked Max Cleland and viciously swiftboated John Kerry, did he? x( The hypocrisy is magnificent.

Bush told reporters at a White House news conference that MoveOn.org's ad in The New York Times about Gen. David Petraeus was a "sorry deal." The September 10 full-page ad was titled "General Petraeus or General Betray Us?"

"I felt like the ad was an attack, not only on Gen. Petraeus, but on the U.S. military," Bush said. "And I was disappointed that not more leaders in the Democratic Party spoke out strongly against that kind of ad."

Eli Pariser, executive director of MoveOn.org, reacted quickly to Bush's comments.

"What's disgusting is that the president has more interest in political attacks than developing an exit strategy to get our troops out of Iraq and end this awful war," Pariser said. "The president has no credibility on Iraq: He lied repeatedly to the American people to get us into the war. Most Americans oppose the war and want us to get out."

4. Thank you to half of the Senate Dems who agree with him
They put their votes in to condemn their own base today....giving Bush the freedom to say that his opinion is bipartisan.

Well, if the DLC and the leadership likes Bush so goddamned much and hates liberals so goddamned much, then they can just rely on the puke base to get elected the next time. I'm sure their "liberal" social policies and corporate economic policies will play well with JimRob and his cohorts.

9. He doesn't feel anything. He was told to say that.
George Bush wouldn't know the truth if it gouged his eye out. :hi:

13. Great comment from Paul Begala via HuffPost on this attack
<excerpt>
Before a single Democrat condemns MoveOn's ad, they should insist that George W. Bush and the Republican Party repudiate the anti-military smears on war heroes that have been the hallmark of Mr. Bush's political career.

Too many Democrats still think Mr. Bush's presidency is on the level. Let's be clear. Mr. Bush is not leading a serious, sober discussion about public discourse during a war. He wants to divide progressives and score political points. We should not let him. Throughout his career he's been willing to tolerate and benefit from vicious lies about military men. We should not concede that he is legitimately angry now.

Mr. Bush is, as he likes to say, a loving guy. But by golly the MoveOn.org ad criticizing Gen. David Petraeus has him madder than Larry Craig in a pay toilet.

When a "reporter" asked him a loaded question about the MoveOn ad (not mentioning, for example, that Petraeus wrote an op-ed in support of the Bush Iraq policy a few weeks before the 2004 election), Bush swung for the fences. But then again, he's always been pretty good at T-Ball - and this was definitely teed up for him.

16. After 6 years, why are people still surprised when GWB does somethin hypocritical?
His whole six years have been that way.

Hypocrisy should be his middle name (or psychopath).

This person is out to get as much money for himself and friends as possible - he has no regard for us. At all. While Hitler tried to take over the world with troops, GWB knows if he accumulates a huge amount of wealth (remember those lost billions in Iraq?), all he needs to do is seriously crash the US and then he can buy it back for pennies on the dollar.

Why fight and spend resources when you can crash everything and then "rescue" it?
