Fillibuster
and what Reid should do about it

No, not nuclear option

Leave it, it is meant to protect the rights of the minority

But...

It is time to make them talk. They stop for fifteen seconds, it's over

Not the way its done right now

All in favor....

I filibuster!

Back to committee you go

You want to fillibuster Mr Cornyn... fine, start talking

Oh you need your aide to get you the copy of the white pages? Sure, keep talking

Oh you stopped...

It's over

Yes folks, it is THAT simple

1. I'd like to see that too. . (images of swooning repugs reading
from the phone book to avoid letting the soldiers get some time off)

It would be a thing of beauty.

4. Yep - if the soldiers can't get time off, then neither should the Republicans.
Make them filibuster - as long as it takes.

6. No one actually DOES it right now. . . as soon as a filibustering
situation arises.. the Senate accepts it as done, the legislation is cold-cocked and everyone goes home to supper.

We should make them stand there and TALK. . . . 24/7. The media would cover it because it would be such a novelty.. C-Span ratings would go through the roof.

8. Absolutely!
Stop allowing them to block legislation by threatening to filibuster -- MAKE THEM FILIBUSTER.

Draw the lines real clear, and let the public see who's on which side.

The time for compromise and fear is long, long gone.

9. Damn right. If they want to filibuster every damn bill, MAKE them actually do it!
The situation as it stands now is just ludicrous.
This Dem majority is working hard to EARN the title "spineless". :banghead:

11. Okay, I'm going to post this link again.
It's Gravel explaining how he was able to get the Pentagon Papers into the record when he was filibustering. It's educational about what goes into filibustering, and it's really entertaining. It's 17 minutes long, and I laughed a lot while watching it.

We need more people to do this -- instead of just knuckling under.

IMHO, this piece is informative and worth watching, if not for just hearing first hand how we were told of the Pentagon Papers...
