1. We should stop accepting the proforma filibuster |
|
and insist on the real thing.

If the Repukes are going to filibuster they should be made to actually stand in the Senate and do it. Harry Reid has let them off much too easily by letting them just declare they'll filibuster and not making them follow through with the real thing so that the American people will be able to see exactly who is obstructing what.

2. I of course voted 'yes' but am amused by the thought that we could actually |
|
'take action'. Well, not that we could take action, but actually think we could see results. Lately I feel as though I'm down on the ground and whenever I raise my head, taking action, I just get kicked back down again.
It doesn't mean I'm giving up, but the underlying bitterness can't be good. I want to feel hope and excitement, not resignation and disgust. How do I take action to achieve those goals?

3. Absolutely . . . . if the repugs are going to use the filibuster |
|
to impose a de facto 60 vote requirement on every substantive bill coming out of the congress, then it's time to bust out the nuclear option. Two can play this game -- a point that seems to be lost on our current party leadership.

7. The moment the proforma is gone |
|
and we have ACTUAL fillibusters, they will go to what they were at one time, extremely rare
