so fred is not the great white hope? he should stop wasting folks money & go home now.

~SNIP~ Focus on the Family founder James Dobson has dealt a potentially devastating blow to Fred Thompson’s presidential aspirations, saying the former senator is not a Christian.

"Everyone knows he’s conservative and has come out strongly for the things that the pro-family movement stands for,” Dobson – considered the most politically powerful evangelical figure in the U.S. – said in a phone call to Dan Gilgoff, senior editor at U.S. News & World Report.

" I don’t think he’s a Christian. At least that’s my impression.”

2. There's no way that Thompson is a Born Again Christian
So it's time that the hardcore RWers cross him off their list (no pun intended).

Bush family hedges its bets for 2008
By Alexander Bolton
March 26, 2007

Much of Jeb’s inner circle has picked Romney. The list includes Sally Bradshaw, who served as Gov. Bush’s campaign manager in 1994 and 1998 and as his first gubernatorial chief of staff; Ann Herberger, who was the governor’s campaign finance director; and Mandy Fletcher, who recently headed Bush’s think tank, Foundation for Florida’s Future, and worked on his reelection. In addition, Alan Philp, Bush’s former policy director, is coordinating policy and issues for Romney.

Jeb Bush’s former lieutenant governor Toni Jennings, Al Cardenas, who served as Florida GOP chairman under Jeb, David Griffin, who headed Jeb’s second -term transition office and was the Florida Lottery Secretary, Sherri McVay, executive director of Jeb’s statewide advocacy council, and Kristy Campbell, the former governor’s press secretary, are all playing roles in Romney’s campaign.

3. Why, for all we know, he's never beaten a 2 year old with a birch rod!
He's got a sexy wife, and she may even use birth control...

He's bald and his head is round, just like those "scientists" -cough, cough- say the Earth is shaped.

Nope. Not a "Christian", sez JD.

4. It was the kiss of death from Dobson.
It is refreshing to know that the Repukes have the most hideous candidates to choose from and Dobson eliminated Thompson. Fred was supposed to be the savior and become Prez.

11. I think Dobson has been marginalized over the last several years
Within the GOP apparatus.

Such a pronouncement probably won't have the same effect it would have 10-15 years ago.

12. Actually the wingnuts loathe Dobson, too. This will only help him
But probably not much. Being denounced by Dobson for Republicans is like being called a Trilateralist by LaRouche is for us.
