It's All About Them.
When are we finally going to get it?

It's all about Them.

It's not about Us.

It's all about Them.

I was watching CSPAN a couple of days ago, watching the House debate a bill that would honor the 65th Regimental (I think) out of Puerto Rico for their service in the Korean War. No "big name" Representatives were debating, it was all people I didn't know by name. They debated this for at least an hour and a half, and were still debating this when I turned it off.

Which brings us to today. To this. And this.

We the People are not the point of government anymore.

Oh, I am sure we used to be - but not now.

Now, government is merely a free-for-all, a treasury filled by the People, and emptied by Them.

No accountability.

No conscience.

Sure, spend time being concurrently spent by our troops dying pointlessly thousands of miles from home, while their families languish without them, debating whether or not veterans from a 50 year old conflict deserve to be memorialized - yeah, that makes perfect sense, given America's situation.

And I'm not being flip - it does make perfect sense.

If it's all about Them...and no longer about Us.

So go ahead - cheer, clap, and gush profusely when one of these lofty Senators or Representatives shares their most precious time by talking at Us, we lowly peons, telling all about their grandiose plans for Us. Please, fill the site with your gushings for Them.

For to do so, is so utterly dignified, given how They reciprocate - don't you think?

And, by all means, please, do Believe Them when they deign to talk at Us.

Because why would They lie? Or exaggerate? Or tell Us what They think We want to hear? Or make promises They never intend to keep? Or pretend They don't remember jack shit? Why would They do any of that?

After all, They work for Us.

We pay Them. We elect Them, award Them with Constitutional power, so They will to do Our bidding.

Yet, despite these truths, and maybe even because of these truths, We still support Them when they lie to Us. Or cheat Us. Or manipulate Us. Again, and again, and again, and again, and again.

We say, "There are always a few bad apples." And we forgive Them, and Believe the majority of Them will do what They promise to do for Us.

So I ask You: How much longer? How much more evidence? When will We fully understand the terrible truth?

They work for Us.

But it is All. About. Them.
