Were the Mujahideen not terrorists? |
|
They skinned Soviet troops alive among other fun little games..
Then they morphed into the Taliban.
And all through the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan the US supported them.
And even today the US supports Baluch tribesmen in Iran doing what are essentially terrorist acts against the government and people of Iran.
Our own hands are far from clean regarding terrorism and terrorists.
Why then the outcry over Ahmedinejad at the WTC?
Once again it seems a case of do as I say, not as I do.

2. I just have a hard time labeling people fighting invaders/occupiers |
|
as terrorists. Bands of people trying to oust the invading Soviet army.... Terrorists or local patriots?
If we were defending America from in invading, occupying force, would we be terrorists or patriots?
One may be defending one's home against a much more powerful force, and have to resort to improvised guerrilla battle tactics, but would that be terrorism?
Fits Iraq too. Are they terrorists, or people defending their own homes?
All depends on perspective or twisting language to trigger emotions. But are defenders of hearth and home terrorist or human beings made to resort to any means to survive?

They were also killing any civilian Afghans they thought were aiding the Soviets..
Isn't killing civilians one of the characteristics of terrorists?

10. Depends on who gets to write the history |
|
Labels ALWAYS depend on who writes the history.
Were the French in WWII terrorists?
They did all the same things.

is another nice neat way to yet again muddy the water and confuse the public about who was actually responsible for 9/11. Won't be long 'til all those patriots who think Saddam was behind 9/11 will be just as sure that Iran was the true culprit. Heck they may even say it was a joint project between Saddam and his closest ally (other than Osama bin Laden of course) Ahmedinejad. Yes, they all met in Prague to plan the whole thing, if I remember right.
