If the MoveOn ad had not been titled 'Betray - Us', would anyone have heard about the ad?

Polls show Bush lost support for the war last week even after they spent millions on advertising and stuck to their talking points on all cylinders. What strikes me is the American people didn't buy it. Deep down they know Move On is right and all the outrage (fake outrage) is coming from the far, far right nut-cases. The Democrats distancing themselves from the ad just don't get it. It's like Dorthy just threw water on the wicked witch and everyone thinks it's great and the congress people in Oz are saying. "We are appalled that this little girl melted the wicked witch."

Wake the fuck up all you wimpy democratic leaders. The witch is melting and the people think it great!

Had Move-On not made that ad controversial no one would be wondering if this General was leveling with us. They would be buying his crap in larger numbers. We should be happy they are giving Move-on all kinds of free advertising and people are constantly reminded that his message could be pure bull shit!

1. No.
And I hope that all the money that False Noise and the Betrayus Dems raised for MoveOn today will generate another ad that is even more controversial.

2. It wasn't even about the ad, it was all about the caption
How pathetically shallow is that?

11. Harper,
I understand that Betrayus was the general's nickname long before Moveon.org used it in their ad. It was great and to the point, but the Chimp should blame the general himself for garnering that nickname, not Moveon.org.

3. Probably not. But I think it was brilliant! They've gotten much more
exposure than they could have ever afforded to pay for! I've heard a number of people who made contributions to MoveOn because of all this publicity! They're doing better than the Swift Boaters!

4. I havent even heard of the content of the ad discussed
Just the title.

What would have happened if a different title had been choosen? Dunno, guess it depends on the title.

9. The polls show the people are not buying the attacks though
It's like when the Republicans attacked Clinton for getting a blow job. He still retained a 60% approval rating. Time will show MoveOn was right and the General did Betray Us. Come June of next year when all the primaries are over and all the Republicans are jumping ship and turning against the War MoveOn will be completely redeemed. In the mean time they are casting doubt on the presidents message and laying the groundwork for our campaign. That the Republicans new the facts yet chose politics over the lives of thousands of soldiers.

Those that don't like MoveOn now are the same who hated it before. They are just a little louder.

6. Absolutely. It could have garnered as much attention without
giving the repukes suck a juicy distraction to all fo the points moveon wanted to make with the ad.

Instead, all they got was a credibility hit.
