Why the hell should any Democrat aplogize for Move On ad?
Edited on Thu Sep-20-07 09:27 PM by samplegirl
This really makes my blood boil. Why should any Democrat feel the need to denounce the Petraeus Ad???
The Republicans see this as a victory and a weakness in the Democratic Party. When in history of verbal acusations and posed
slams on the democrats have we asked to denouce or recived an apology from the Republican party??? Its time for the Democrats
to stand up and remember every voice they have deemed to ruin or
silence in the past. They ruined Howard Dean for his scream. Tried to abolish Max Cleland and the unforgiveable swiftboating of John Kerry.
This is the party that can use every dirty handed trick in book that they can dish out.......then cry like a baby when counter
attacked. How bout a few more death wishs like Coulter gave.
Move On has my support and I hope they continue with more great
prospectives.

5. You've got that right!
This ad wasn't put out by the Democratic party. I think our so-called leaders of the party need to draft some resolutions forcing the repukes to denounce the swiftboat ads, Ann Coulter's calling for the assassination of Supreme Court judges, the Max Cleland attack ads, the purple band aids, Rush Limburger, Sean insanity, Billo and all the other right wing radio and tv screamers calling me a godless traitor - just because I'm a Democrat and on and on and on.

7. Cause they are the defensive wing of the republican party.
If things were otherwise then the Republicans wouldn't keep getting their way on everything. If the Democrats were a real opposition party they would have shut it all down a while ago.

17. More than just attacking the troops, attacking a GENERAL
Edited on Thu Sep-20-07 09:38 PM by Nevernose
This isn't Jesus or Gandhi or MLK or George Washington we're talking about, it's just a regular guy -- a guy who has everything to gain by lying, and stands to lose big time by telling the truth. Not the truth as he sees it, but the reality-based truth.

And no one on TV mentions all of the other generals that have been FIRED for reporting the unpleasant truth.

Since Vietnam, we have enshrined having a military job to the same level of credibility that we used to give to the second coming of Jesus Christ Himself. It's a cult of the military. And it's bullshit.

21. Geez Louise, He's a general
When the hell did criticizing a military leader become the equivalent of kicking a disabled vet in the balls and spitting in his eye? I can't believe Lincoln had the temerity to criticize General McClellan! He was clearly un-american. And Truman fired MacArthur. He clearly wanted the terrorists to win. As long as we kowtow to this idea that everyone in a uniform is above reproach we will continue to let this country be run by war profiteers.

23. Calling someone a traitor is a bit beyond just "criticizing" them.
These false arguments are something more suitable to FR.

27. Wasn't Benedict Arnold a general?
If he lied through his teeth to Congress to justify continuing an illegal immoral war, maybe he is a traitor. I'm not saying he is or he isn't, but the fact that he is in the fucking Army doesn't enter into the equation one way or the other.

when it's the truth but thanks for your input.

The general betrayed us..and moveon called him on it..moveon was right to do this..I don't care if it's condemned in the Senate where they keep enabling bush.. it's a badge of honor for us and moveon.

28. Have you ever been in the military?
There are ALL kinds of people in the military. Putting on a uniform and hanging in there for a gazillion years does not qualify one for beatification. People in uniform are just as capable, maybe even more so, of lying to themselves as anyone else is.

The reference to betrayal was phrased as a question, asking readers to make up their own minds. That makes it even worse to suppress; we aren't even supposed to wonder, no questions asked, "Shut up and obey!".

If that is a fact, Move On Should Say That In Their Ad --- hope they did.

11. The pres wants to see them bend down and kiss his feet
and they do it! Why? who knows. The real victory here is for moveon.org, because apparently they strike more fear into the repug party heart than any of the dem candidates do...so, uhhhhhhhhh.....moveon.org is very scary to them. Scary, scary, scary....to get such a freaked out reaction by one little ad. The repugs see the power of moveon.org..and they are in a panic mode by what that power implies.
