6. "I can make your life disappear with the stroke of a pen." |

You're right. He is, after all, the one that WENT to the school before anything else happened, and threatened the black students by saying, "I can make your life disappear with the stroke of a pen."

I missed alo of the early stuff about the case, but I've heard the media's summary. One thing Iheard from someone this morning ihas not been repeated is that what really started the whole thing off was a black kid getting beat up by a white kid and no charges were filed. Then the black kids sat at the "white" tree, then the white kids got beat up, etc.
Is this correct? Thank you!

4. newsweek ran a three-page article on it a cpl weeks ago |
|
check their website for the full chronology
but yes, there were increasing tensions and incidents both ways, with the authorities letting hte white kids off and cracking down on the blacks. Sounds like the authorities made it worse and pushed the black kids, making clear they would get no support from "THE MAN" to the point where they lost it.

I have a novel idea. How about doing the right thing. Anyone who knocks someone unconscious and kicks them repeatedly qualifies as a criminal in most societies. This Bell kid has two prior assault convictions in the last couple of years. Undoubtedly he hasn't gotten the message that this is against the law. He needs someone to teach him right from wrong before he kills someone. Maybe adult prison is too harsh, but drop the charges? Not hardly.
