Pelosi to Revisit Old Tradition, Regular News Conferences by House Speaker
Pelosi to Revisit Old Tradition, Regular News Conferences by House Speaker
By CQ Staff | 9:45 AM; Sep. 21, 2007

Speaker Nancy Pelosi said Thursday she plans to hold regular news conferences, perhaps even reverting to the old custom of meeting daily with reporters when the House is in session.

“I’m very proud of the work we’ve done,” Pelosi, D-Calif., told reporters. “Now I can spend a little bit more time with all of you.”

Experts in political communications said Pelosi is well-advised, after nine months in the Speaker’s job, to step up her appearances before the Capitol press corps, and said she will probably do well in the give and take.

Asked if news conferences would be scheduled weekly, Pelosi surprised even her staff by saying, “It might be every day. Are you ready for that? ... Then why are you laughing?”

Afterward, aides said they didn’t know whether she was serious about daily press sessions.

2. Yes, I hope so too...
...the only way to counter the constant spin machine is to keep hammering our message out there.

3. And it took HOW MANY months for this to happen?
Cripes- if she had been doing this from day one, she could have had impeachment back on the table inside a couple weeks!

Exposure, Nancy, EXPOSURE!

:grr:

4. How about some Townhall meetings Nancy?
I think your constituents in SF would like a word with you.

5. Oh, really. She has "time" for that but cannot open and close the daily
sessions of Congress? That is one important thing that I would like to see the Speaker do - the job!

(Is she going to answer about setting that table with impeachment?)
