Louisiana city investigates nooses hanging from a truck

ALEXANDRIA, La. (CNN) -- Authorities in Alexandria -- a city near Jena -- Thursday night arrested two people who were driving a red truck with two nooses hanging from the back.

At least one of the nooses was made out of an extension chord, according to the police report.

Police say the 18-year-old driver was charged with driving while intoxicated and inciting to riot, and may also be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor -- a charge referring to the 16-year-old passenger.

I had not heard that, but that is horrible.

I hope that the situation in Jena will expose alot of racism in the South. Many many small towns in the south have these problems. I speak from experience.

9. Ya know what? It's time Louisiana joins the real world and learns racism is NEVER acceptable!

I know, from my experience of having racist relatives that live in Houma and NOLA, that racial slurs and racism, in general...is just accepted there! Probably because no one has ever had the guts to call them on it. Oh sure, a cop may "act" like he's offended by it, while in public, but when they go behind the closed doors of the jail house you know they just laugh it all off with the perpetrator. I've witnessed the blatant racism. It was disgusting, but unfortunately I was in no condition to confront my LA. relatives at the time....it happened at my father's funeral and emotionally, I couldn't take them on.:(

I live in Illinois, a BLUE, BLUE, BLUE state and those people (my relatives:() didn't even blink an eye when displaying their racism and it didn't even occur to them that it would be unacceptable to spew their racist crap around us (we're white) which just told me...it was a NORMAL, ACCEPTABLE PRACTICE back at home. It-Made-me-sick.
