For those who didn’t have the opportunity to watch the Values Voter Debate last evening, you missed quite a display of political pandering, ridiculous rhetoric and all-around right-wing lunacy. You also missed this lovely rendition of “God Bless America” performed by the Church of God Choir, from Springfield, Ohio – reworded to better reflect the Right’s agenda and titled "Why SHOULD God Bless America":

Why should God bless America?
She’s forgotten he exists

On everything that made her what she is

The courts ruled prayer out of our schools

Is there any reason to doubt the sincerity of their religious affiliation? Are they secretly tenants of some other religious beliefs?

But of course your point is well taken - all people who describe themselves as Christians are Christians, regardless of how well we feel they reflect our individual beliefs.

By the same token this Choirs song is no more a reflection of my religious beliefs than an ostrich.

As if God would share all their petty hates. They preach a god who is exactly like themselves, and wants you to do all the things they, coincidentally, happen to do. How can anyone take them seriously?
