Poll question: "I for Impeachment": Is it Time????
Edited on Fri Sep-21-07 02:47 PM by Totally Committed

Remember, Remember,

The Eleventh of September...

Whether terrorist action,

or Treasonous plot.

I know of no reason why those who died

because Bush and Cheney lied

should EVER be forgot.

Is it time to impeach Bush and/or Cheney?

the collective wisdom of DU.

Heresy, I know.

frustrating. I am angered every time I think about it.

12. That is what we were told when DEMS voted for Bush's war too: "They know something you dont."
Edited on Fri Sep-21-07 03:24 PM by Dr Fate
That is what we were told when DEMS refused to filibuster Alito, when they refused to respond to the SBVs, when they refused to investigate the Downing Street Memo, when they refused to talk about investigating election fraud, etc, etc, etc.

"You silly citizens- the career politicians know more than you do..." usually said right before some crushing strategic defeat of the DEMS (as usual)

It was bull crap then and it's bull crap now.

fascist Supreme Court nominee and in so doing, call the Republicans' nuclear option bluff-- they have great political acumen. They gave up one of their key duties in exchange for retaining a procedural move they had no intention of using themselves, while their opposition would be certain to use it relentlessly.

That's some really sharp political strategy. It's a good thing they didn't listen to the dummies around here who said they should function as an opposition party; that fighting is not a way of spending political capital, but rather the method of attaining it.

Good thing we've got the strategic geniuses in place, who refuse to exercise their power to set the agenda even today, and adopt every GOP frame that's tossed their way. The Julius Caesar of the political world, that's our Nancy.

23. Just curious... examples of this political acumen she's allegedly exhibited?
Anyway, what's she done that's indicative of her acumen? I'm really willing to be convinced, or at least informed. Thus far, all I see is a clean record of bowing to BushCo, starting by voluntarily giving up her most powerful weapon and getting absolutely nothing in return.

As one result of that move, dems keep doing battle with the GOP -- if battle is the right word for accommodation, capitulation and subservience -- armed with a rusty razor while the GOP shows up with M-4s and surface-to-surface missiles.

And as an aside, I submit the collective wisdom of DU is nothing to be ignored or demeaned. I don't think we're organized enough to ever become an official progressive think tank, but the right elements are certainly here. Smart, creative, funny, wise people abound.

Edited on Fri Sep-21-07 03:20 PM by Dr Fate
Even if the folks who controlled the party really were opposed to Bush's war and how we got there (Hint- they are not)they would bungle it- and they know it.

They know nothing of strategy, and even if they did, they would never use it to attack a fellow conservative in a meaningful way...

41. I agree with you.
Their idea of "strategy" is "bi-partisanship" on economic bills designed to aid the corporations ahead of the people. And, they are given corporate $$$ to help them keep getting elected. It's a vicious circle, but one that is, more and more, keeping US out of the decision-making or consideration while decisions are made.

We are the worker ants for this colony, and that's all we'll ever be to them.

Any ideas how we can change that?

Yesterday the Democrats in Congress proved to me that they are either completely out of touch with popular opinion, or operating under the mistaken impression that they are our masters rather than our servants.

It is frustrating with D.C. marinating in the felonies of this administration. Impeachment is possible on a number of different charges. The only thing missing are the balls to just do it.

I gave it til September, and now I just want to give them a pointy cowboy boot up the behind.

We need a leader. There is no leader of the Democratic Party. The wannabees are too busy running for president. Boot-^-arse.

I so want Al Gore to step in and make the crazy go away.

how it was convenient, there were innocent people shot to death and he's chortling over the fact that
no one will be held accountable, and the Senate is voting to reprimand Moveon over an ad.

So, got any idea what the hell we do about it?

It seems as though we now have an unresponsive Congress, only doing what they want until it's time to get elected. THEN they want our vote.

Any ideas?

38. "Approval of Congress" Would Skyrocket -- We'd Be "Creating Democrats"
The majority who oppose Iraq know full well that dumping bushcheney is the only possible way to end the war.

Masses of independents and the unengaged would rush to the Democratic Party -- permanently.

The beltway-blinded strategerists still obsess about their white whale of that last half percent of "swing voters," never seeing the bigger picture.

Only Impeachment ... has "jackpot" written all over it.

It IS our positive agenda.

It is our ONLY moral, patriotic, (and legal, legislative, electoral, diplomatic...) option.

Get on with it.
