Is anyone else bothered that practically every nightly news broadcast
shows footage of our armed troops in Iraq breaking down someone's door. I shudder and wonder how long before it will happen here.

6. oh yes
It bothers me greatly that our troops, trained to fight wars, are conducting police sctivites, for which they are not trained.

We have no business whatsoever kicking down anyone's door. Our military are not a swat team. If they are to be sent on a mission to find an enemy combatant - someone aligned with a known enemy organization - and either kill or take prisoner, that might be an appropriate mission. But what they are doing is police work, looking for people who are participating in gang warfare against other Iraqis.

That the CinC has so cavalierly tasked them with this "mission" definitely implies to me that your concerns are well founded. If he wanted someone - anyone - domestically, he'd love to send the 82nd Airborne to roust them. He's moving toward the day that he can do that with impunity.

7. I agree that our troops are not trained and qualified to perform police
activities, but that's not why seeing them kicking in doors bothers me. It bothers me because they have NO RIGHT to be kicking in those doors, scaring those people, disrupting their lives (or worse). It is their country, these are their homes. And look what we've done to them.

In fact, bothers is a totally inadequate term. I feel guilt and shame.

8. I hear the footsteps of blackwater coming.
If somehow we get out of Iraq and don't invade Iran, it only leaves them one option. Thats to invade us! The corporations need to keep making money for the wealthy and not only do we have the military industrial complex pushing for violence, now we have the terrorism industrial complex that Colin Powell warned about. Thats why I really think it was wrong for Clinton to have that fund raiser the other day with people from that industry. When you create an industry that can only survive as long as there is terrorist acts and terrorism, what do you think that leaves us with? Either attacks will happen to us to continue it or we will continue to be flooded with the fear propaganda.

Listen to your candidates speak and see how many times they mention terrorists or terrorism, as they campaign across the country. That will show you who their agenda supports. I know the Republicans have been doing it but now there are main stream Democrats doing it too.

9. Is it the same film clip everynight?
Maybe it's a cost cutting thing with them...When shock and awe first happened the local fox station just played the same film loop over and over.
