Or maybe limit only how many threads you can start in a day, or how many replies you can make to one thread, or something, anything. Maybe that would cut down some of the clutter in GD? What does everyone think?

rapid fire - I've seen 20 threads by one person on a page. When you are starting that many topics you can't possibly be devoting thought to the topics. I don't get it. This "littering" just knocks thoughtful posts into the back pages.

This is and unique visits are two of the ways that web traffic is measured here on DU. The higher the traffic the higher the rating of the website.

There's no way the owners are going to limit the number of post one can make per day because the traffic and post are good for the site. That's not to say they won't toss a troublemaker out on their rump. We all know they will.

Besides, there's no reason to do this, that's what the ignore thread feature is for. I also recommend clicking around DU. There's so many other forums and groups to discover here. And the best part is, they don't all read like GD. Not that there's anything wrong with GD, it just has the highest traffic and the least regulated content. Which makes it appear like a wild mud-wrestling, free for all from time to time. But, that's part of its charm.

60. I don't think most of us post nearly

that much consistently. I know I've gone months without posting a thing (see my post count and when I came on DU). Having said that, there ARE people who could use some self-monitoring with literally 100's of posts a day that say absolutely nothing, or the same thing over and over and over again. Then again, they never recognize themselves so what are you going to do? Ignore can be a lifesaver for these guys.
