The U.S. Senate just told you to sit down and be quiet.
Statement: I will fight back

The U.S. Senate just told you to sit down and be quiet.

They passed a resolution condemning MoveOn.org and it has one purpose: to intimidate all of us
who care about responsibly ending this war. They wanted to send a message that anyone who speaks
unpleasant truths about this war will pay. To make everyone--especially politicians-
- think twice before they accuse the administration of lying.

We can't let that happen, so we're letting Congress know that they're not going to intimidate us.

Can you sign on to this statement?

A compiled petition with your individual comment will be presented to your Senators and Representative.

PLEASE Sign the Petition!!!

Full petition text:

"I will not be quiet, I will fight back, and I will keep speaking out until Congress forces an exit plan for this awful war."

http://pol.moveon.org/fightback/

SIGNED!!!!!!!!!!! :grr:

1. The petition won't do a God-damned thing

The only solution is to replace the "Benedict Arnold Democrats" with real Democrats.

Right now, the only good Democrats in the 110th Congress are like Gilbert Gottfried on the set of Saturday Night Live during Jean Doumanian's regime - a funny guy in his own right, but at that point he was completely demoralized, even with friends like Eddie Murphy and Joe Piscopo on his side.

We have some serious housecleaning to do in the Democratic Party - we all know it, but not enough people are willing to roll up their sleeves and do the work.

15. Despite my own feelings, I signed it earlier today...
...but you can't stop there. If you're not a precinct chair, look into becoming one. Or find out what you need to do to become a delegate to your state convention next year. We need to DU the Democratic Party itself - I've said it over and over, and sometimes we've come close, but we need to seal the deal once and for all.

9. Ever see that MATRIX movie?
It's kinda like that, and Bush is Agent Smith.

We don't need a leader. We need a Neo.

13. "You shall not crucify mankind upon a cross of gold"
Wasn't it William Jennings Bryan who said that? In any case, I fear you may be right - but it's only gonna happen if we allow it to happen.

26. I hope I'm wrong,
but I see nothing that points in that direction.

Housing market in the shitter, unemployment, dollar devaluation, loss of civil liberties without recourse.

The last official act of any government is to loot the treasury, that is happening right now.

I am not too worried about it though, Russia emerged from bankruptcy in a decade or so, lets hope we can build a better nation next time around.

Like Bill Clinton said in the movie "The Hunting of the President", we strive for a more perfect union, as our founders knew this one had flaws.

But all in all I think the founders were some damned smart students of history, and it would be a shame if all their efforts so long ago fail due to an uninformed populace.

4. Just imagine the hue and cry from the reich
wing had Clinton condemned Jerry Fallwell for selling the Mena Arkansas video on his show. The Republicans would have stood in lock step in calling for an apology.

Since the Democrats allow the Republicans to set the agenda they roll over and join in on condemning moveon.org.

And last I knew, I still have freedom of speech. :shrug:I won't be intimated by a toothless condemnation by the US Senate. You can crap your pants over it, but count me out.
