No one in the meme-stream media is saying much about the fact that one of the black students -- Robert Bailey -- got beat up first, including getting hit with a glass bottle, and the students who beat him up only got a slap on the wrist.
Also, when Robert Bailey and several other black students went to a convenience store, some guy pull a sawed off shotgun on them, and when they wrestled the gun away from him and took it to the police station and reported what happened, the police department charged them with theft...charged with stealing the gun.
There are a lot of details in this story that are not being reported by the media.
The real story is the differences between the punishment for the black students who beat up the one white student after he used racial slurs against them, versus the minor punishment that the white students received when they beat up a black student at a party, including hitting him across the head with a glass bottle.
Of course, the meme-stream media aren't reporting the actual sequence of events that took place. They are framing it as an open question about whether the punishment for the six black juveniles who beat up one white student was too severe.
The real story is the double standard.
Without seeing the actions of the Jena Six in context, face to face with what had equally been done to them, the media is in fact manipulating the public, which is why you hear so many people saying, "well, they did beat the guy up, so..."
If you look at their actions in context (the sequence of events), a lot less people would be saying, "well..."
The DA, Reid Walters should be called "Mike Nifong." Reid Walters told all of the black students that he could end their lives with the stroke of a pen, and that's what they are trying to do to Mychal Bell. He is the only one who remains in jail. Why is that? Because of all of the blacks involved, he had the most promising future, including football scholarship offers from big-time colleges like LSU, which year in and year out is ranked in the top 5, in college football.
Let's put this in perspective. No one knows who "kicked" Barker, but they are making Bell sit in jail, so shouldn't we hold Walters to his promise? He's just trying to end Bell's life with the stroke of a pen. They can't let that black student come from nothing and end up making more a year than they do, in football nonetheless.
