I've had them fall on me and my carry ons and I've seen them dragged out of the terminals when they're too drunk to board the plane. In those cases, thank goodness they didn't board - they weren't going to pass out any time soon, and would have made the flight pure hell. (and yes, I understand fear of flying - my old boss used to get petrified as soon as the cabin door closed, but damn, take something that will knock you out after the plane takes off rather than get blitzed before you board and possibly damage someone or something in flight.

57. My barber got the inside story from a TSA guy.

The TSA guy said he had to follow rules that change all the time. If he applied last week's rules, he would get fired when he allowed a passenger to break this week's rules. Their jobs are not fun at all. That may explain why many of them act the way they do. Since they aren't having fun, they want to make sure the passengers don't have fun, either. Their hostility makes sense in a twisted, psychopathic sort of way.

The last time I tried to carry a normal bottle of water (more than 100 ml) through the line, the TSA didn't confiscate the water; they made me drink it right there. I don't believe that was a rule they had to follow. I think they were just doing what comes naturally - being assholes.

A couple weeks ago, my wife was stopped by the TSA when they found a sno-globe she decided to put in her carry-on rather than chance having it shattered by some gorilla throwing our luggage around. They told her that there was more liquid inside the globe (water I would assume) than permitted by rules and it wouldn't be allowed on the plane. Yep, America, sleep tight tonight, no sno-globe filled with something other than water is gonna threaten our skies.

She was told she could "mail" the globe and they took her to some office at the far edges of civilization, only to find out that the globe was too big to fit in their mail slot. All the while she felt like she'd ruined THEIR day, not the other way around and how dare her bring that stinkin' globe into the airport in the first place. We ended up leaving the thing...enough of this crap was enough.

Sure enough, as we're going to the gate there was a gift shop...and guess what they were selling...Yep, sno-globes.
