Iraqi official concedes Blackwater's exit would create 'security vacuum' in Baghdad

BAGHDAD (AP) - An Iraqi official conceded Sunday that Blackwater USA's exit would create a ''security vacuum'' in Baghdad and said U.S. and Iraqi officials were instead working on revamping regulations governing private security companies after a deadly shooting of civilians.

{snip}

''If we expel this company immediately there will be a security vacuum that will demand pulling some troops off the battlefield,'' Tahseen Sheikhly, a civilian spokesman for the seven-month-old offensive against militants in Baghdad and surrounding areas. ''This will create a security imbalance in securing Baghdad.''

{snip}

Blackwater is one of three private security firms employed by the State Department to protect its personnel in Iraq, and a decision to force it to pull out would create tremendous difficulties for the U.S. government. There are 48,000 of the private security contractors in Iraq, according to the Government Accountability Office.

6. Ah, yes. Having paid killers shoot civilians to provide "security".
Kind of like invading Iraq to quell Al-Queda.

7. I tend to see Iraq as two governments
1) those want to work with the neo-cons and enrich themselves along the way

2) those who represent Iraq and the people who live there. These are the people who oppose being occupied and the imperialists whom are there to steal their natural resouces & wealth.

IMO, this is the civil war that is occuring in Iraq.

Iraqis don't want Blackwater there.
