Nothing gets by Media Matters. Wouldn't you know old Limbaugh pegged Chuck Hagel as "Senator Betrayus" not long before the MoveOn ad, then proceeded to trash MoveOn. You can't make this stuff up. http://mediamatters.org/items/200709220003?f=h_latest |

There seems to be some sentiment that politicians can be criticized and made fun of more that anyone else (well, maybe other than lawyers and used car dealers). "Hey, they chose this career. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen."
Whether the criticism is of Hagel by Rush or Kerry by the Swiftboaters, the outrage seems usually pretty muted.
