13. Can she tell us the name of an official who doesn't have "honor"?
Edited on Sun Sep-23-07 01:23 PM by Eric J in MN
It's a common response to criticism of rightwingers for a liberal apologist to say they're honorable, but these liberal apoligists never tell us which officials aren't honorable.

Joe Klein also calls Petraeus "honorable:"

http://time-blog.com/swampland/2007/09/bill_kristol_meet_glenn_greenw.html

If everyone on earth has "honor" than they aren't saying much.

5. My nephew went to see Hillary in NYC the other

day. Wes Clark spoke, too. Nephew came away impressed. His reaction surprised me, because I always thought he was to the left of me and that he'd cast his first Presidential primary vote for Kucinich. (This is a kid who drove around Orange County, CA with a sticker on his car that read "The only dope I'd shoot is living in the White House." When he left for college, his mom removed it. Didn't want a visit from the Secret Service.)

Hillary apparently has learned how to wow a crowd, and seems to be reaching out to the progressives. Whether she can win over enough skeptics remains to be seen. And whether or not she can win in the general election remains, in my mind, a very big unknown in an election year in which a Dem win is mandatory. I'm sticking with Edwards for now.

6. Yes, But She Handled The MoveOn Ad Poorly...
You would never know, from listening to that interview, that she had voted not to condemn MoveOn...which she did. She should have said, I support the right of organizations like MoveOn to present their ideas for public debate, even though I may not have chosen the same wording that they did, the credibility of the information presented by General Petraeus is critically important to the continuation of this war and groups like MoveOn have a right to ask that that information present a complete and accurate picture of the war situation. I myself said that accepting his testimony at face value requires the willing suspension of disbelief.

She made a major mistake in likening the ad to the attacks on Cleland and Kerry. Those attacks were spurious and not factual, but the attack on Petraeus is well-founded, given his history of shilling for Bush and the inaccuracy of previous rosey scenario predictions he has made.

All in all, her performance on Iraq was a mixed bag...good that she pledged not to fund it anymore, bad that she dissed MoveOn and bolstered the reputation of Petraeus...
