What our election process has turned into |
|
A lot of disgruntled Democrats holding their noses to vote for candidates they don't support and a lot of Republicans voting against OUR candidate.
Seems like there should be a better way.

5. I think the ink dried on that deal a long time ago. |

What is going on now is just business. Lots of money in campaigning.

That certain nominee is the best possible cover story the GOP could ask for. After the election is stolen everyone in the media will agree that despite what the polls said, in the privacy of the voting booth, too many people just couldn't bring themselves to vote for a ___________.

7. Green Party thread? What is that supposed to mean? |
|
Well goodie for you....I think many many would not be able to say the same. Its been a loong time since I got to actually vote for a dem that shared my views.
It isn't about "liking" them as much as it is having them actually do their jobs and not cave in to their corporate backers.

8. I live in Madison, Wisconsin |
|
and I get to vote for Russ Feingold and a progressive congresswoman, state senator, and assemblyman. Its a pretty darn good lineup, but that reflects the progressive population here.
And because I live in bluer than blue Madison, I spent 8 months working for a progressive candidate in another Congressional district next to where I live in 2006, and I will keep doing that till everyone we send to Washington from Wisconsin is as True Blue as Feingold.
I did not hold my nose when I voted for Kerry-Edwards. I found a lot of good things to like and respect about him. I worked for him to be elected and I will work again for whoever our party nominates. I hope its a true progressive like Kucinich, but I'm going to be happy with Edwards or Obama too.

11. I am attracted to the Green party platform and ideas |

but all they ever do is sit around and bash Democrats. Same with the Socialists. We have a lot of both in Madison. Some of them would actually make good candidates as progressive Democrats, but instead of running as Democrats- and they might actually win- they run as Greens. They verbally bash the Democrats but of course they vote for the Democrats and "hold their noses" because they deep down do realize that the Republicans are worse. A bell went off when I saw that phrase.
I guess this is just the irritation that comes from living in a very liberal city- the Dems do get attacked from the right and the left, even the ones that are pretty far to the left. Since I've identified myself as a Dem I have to roll with the punches.
I think we can only make the party better from the inside, and I wish I knew how to pull some of the Green left into the big tent. :hi:

and we'll vote for you without holding our noses! There are lots of great Greens around here. We had a wonderful Green run for Senate. I wish she would have run as a Dem, because she would have shaken up the one who was running last year something awful. :hi:
