Nooses Found At N.C. High School
Nooses Found At N.C. High School
Incident Comes As Controversy Over 'Jena 6' Continues

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- Police are investigating an incident in which students and faculty at a High Point, N.C., high school said four nooses were hung from a tree at the school, reports WXII-TV.

The finding occurred Friday morning at Andrews High School.

Guilford County Schools said it was working with the High Point Police Department on the investigation.

"We want to impress upon you that this inappropriate act is not a representation of Andrews' administration, students or staff," Principal Monique Wallace said in a letter to parents. (Read The Entire Letter) Andrews and GCS will not tolerate behavior that is discriminatory or that disrupts the safe learning environment of our students.

"Should your child observe inappropriate behavior or have any information regarding this incident, please ask him/her to immediately notify a teacher, staff member or our school's resource officer," the letter said.

For 30+ years I've heard from my family how North Carolina "has changed;" how it's becomeing more progressive- part of the "new South."

And every time I go back there, it's the same old shit- fundies, racism and irrational land use "planning."

5. When Eminem rapped
I tried to tell people that he was trying to say what he heard behind closed doors. I can remember posts at DU where I caught pure hell when I talked about white racists and asked why white people, particularly men, thought they needed their own party. That IS what the Republican Party is, after all, a haven for white people who think they're better than everybody else.

Well this is what happens when white people deny what everybody knows is true. I never dreamed it was still *this* bad. Then again, I didn't know there was ever such a thing as "white proms", or that they still existed anywhere in this country.

The most disconcerting thing is that people believe it's just these Bushies who are so bad. They forget the purpose of the Republican Party, which is to run things without government 'interference' the way it would be if it weren't for all "those people" voting in that "other party". This is exactly what they have in mind people. Iraq and no government is what they wanted. They don't believe in government. They poured money into 'business' because they believe 'business' fixes everything.

We are experiencing pure Republican policies and people better figure it out. It requires excuses for those who are left behind and racial inferiority is a handy scapegoat. Remember, these are not Bush's base, the "have mores".

at the feet of the Supreme Court. With that ruling they made, they opened the door for what we are seeing now. The ruling implied that if people don't want mixed schooling, they could drive out people they don't want with no recriminations because the Supremes said the quotas don't count any more.

10. Too bad he didn't take the matter seriously when the first nooses were hung from the "WHITE" tree!
Maybe none of this would be happening NOW? I blame the school for this whole bloody mess.

11. Spreading filth: Noose found outside U of MD Black Cultural Center
This actually happened a couple of weeks ago:

Student Leaders Organize 'Speak-Out' Over Noose
Student Leader Calls Incident 'Terrorism'

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Black student leaders at the University of Maryland held a "speak-out" Tuesday about a noose that was discovered hanging from a tree on campus.

The noose was found near a cultural center that houses the black faculty association and a black newspaper, and police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime.

Hundreds of University of Maryland students and faculty gathered at Cole Field House Tuesday night.

I was shocked to hear about this at my Alma Mater. Maryland is a very culturally diverse, liberal campus and I never would have guessed this would have happened.

12. THIS deserves outrage. Where are the recommendations? Where
are the hundreds of comments?

The implications of these kinds of incidents are far above and beyond the Circuit City and Andrew Meyers crap. Yet DUers take on those causes instead of something as important as this.

Yeah, the authoritarianism is just so "ridiculous" when you're asked to show a receipt leaving a store. But nooses hanging from a tree at a school? Oh, well I guess that's just par for the course.

God this shit pisses me off.

21. Sounds like a copycat of the Jena noose incident
and "white-only tree".

If the Jena noose incident had been taken seriously, maybe this wouldn't be spreading.
