How can the Senate democrats stop the repulibcans |
|
for stopping the progression of bills? IE: filibustering every bill that would hold bush accountable. I see most of the media not pointing this out time and time again. We need them to hold both houses and get more members in each in 2008. But how, when most of the America is now blaming them from not getting anything done.

1. May be they can start by forcing them to filibuster rather than accepting 3/5 majority votes. |
|
My guess is that some senators running for reelection in purple states may hesitate before voting against cloture, while they do not hesitate to cast a NO vote with a 3/5 majority.
If they want to filibuster, at least make sure that it is painful to them!!

10. They SHOULD have to do a real filibuster, a la Mr. Smith. |
|
Make them work for it, if they are so set on it. This crap nowadays of just SAYING one wants to filibuster sucks. Make them actually WORK for it. Make them miss a few fundraisers, a few cocktail parties. Make them stay there and do their jobs.

2. every time they filibuster, one of their bills won't get to the floor. start beating them up with |
|
the rules just as they did to Dems when GOP was in majority.

Skip to about 1 hr. 48 min into it and see the way out. There is a bipartisan sponsored bill (Biden-Boxer-Brownback) for federalizing Iraq that will be debated further on Mon. and get a vote Tuesday morning. Call me crazy, but I have a feeling this might pass!

1) Quit fearing them. 2) Quit thinking like them. 3) Forget the media is out there and do what is right. 4) Listen to the people and not the Beltway mouthpieces.

9. I watched Biden's speech on the floor as it happened and have |
|
heard him present his proposal seveal times. One swallow does not a summer make. Too many Dems are busy looking over their shoulders to see what is staring them in the face.

...get your point. Are you being pessimistic? A lot of repubs seem like they are going to vote for this.

12. Neither side is paying attention to anything more than |
|
the next election. It's my prediction that both sides will pay for it. They both talk big until it's time to produce action, then they cave.

13. If they pass this amendment... |
|
then BOTH repubs and democrats benefit in the next election (except the other prez candidates who are not Joe Biden or Sam Brownback). The dems will finally get legislation through that can bring about a responsible end to the civil war so we can begin to draw down troops, and the repubs can distance themselves from Bush while at the same time not "cutting and running" (a term I hate, but still). Any thoughts on if your boy Obama going to vote for this? I can't imagine he won't, unless his presidential aspirations get in the way of his rational thought, which I'm hoping won't happen.
