WaPo: Bush Lauds Hillary Clinton
Edited on Mon Sep-24-07 12:55 PM by liberalsoldier5
From the Washington Post's website:

Bush to Hillary Clinton: I'm Truman, You're Ike

President Bush told a group of broadcasters that he was impressed with Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign. (AP).

<snip>

Karl Rove may not think much of Hillary Rodham Clinton's chances of winning the White House, but it sounds like President Bush is less sanguine. At an off-the-record lunch a week ago, Bush expressed admiration for her tenacity in the campaign. And he left some in the room with the impression that he thinks she will win the election and has been thinking about how to turn over the country to her.

The topic came up when Bush invited a group of morning and evening news anchors and Sunday show hosts to join him in the executive mansion's family dining room a few hours before he delivered his nationally televised address on Iraq last week. Bush made no explicit election predictions, according to some in the room, but clearly thought Clinton would win the Democratic nomination and talked in a way that seemed to suggest he expects her to succeed him - and will continue his Iraq policy if she does.

3. Wow - and throughout June 2004 book tour, Bill Clinton supported Bush on his
terrorism and Iraq war strategies making great headlines for Bush.

One hand scratches the other.

And one family sweeps up after the other.

7. He's Stating The Obvious
The Clinton campaign has been very well organized and focused. It's polling well in the key primary states and hasn't really made any mistakes considering all the attention and scrutiny it gets from all sides.

The Repugnicans greatest hope and fear is another Clinton campaign. It's like a moth to a flame...they think they can smother the flame, but always get burned. They're so cock-sure that people hate the Clintons so much that "she's un-electable". It's an obsession that realities hide. The problem Repugnicans will have next year won't be Hillary as much as their own implosion. For all those who won't vote for Hillary for whatever reason you want to use, there'll be a similar backlash to a Rudy or Thompson or whomever...in what I think will wash in the end.

Will Hillary continue boooshie's policy? Doubtful...but to think all troops will be boarding planes and heading home on 1-20-09 is foolhardy as well. Whomever comes in after this regime is removed will have a ton of shit to clean up...and a lot of hidden skeltons sure to pop out as well. Just like Waxman's problem last January...it's not what to go after, it's where to start. And Iraq is such a mess. Whomever walks in will have to restart a diplomatic process all but destroyed by boooshie, cheney and rice. Getting international support and assistance in safely removing our troops will be a priority, but it won't happen quickly...and be assured the booosh regime will make it worse. Hillary or Ron Paul or anyone coming in will be walking into a massive mess.

The vote in the primaries is shaping up as to who is the best candidate to handle this mess.
