Do you write like a terrorist? Big Brother is watching what you write on the internet!

<snip>
You might think your anonymous online rants are oh-so-clever. But they'll give you away, too. A federally-funded artificial intelligence lab is figuring out how to track people over the Internet, based on how they write.

The University of Arizona's ultra-ambitious "Dark Web" project "aims to systematically collect and analyze all terrorist-generated content on the Web," the National Science Foundation notes. And that analysis, according to the Arizona Star, includes a program which "identifies]and tracks individual authors by their writing styles."
<snip>

I guess that means each and every one of us on DU probably has our very own FBI or DHS file.

and leave the literary criticism to college professors.

3. Yup
If a private company like Google can keep tabs on searches going back eight years, I'm pretty sure the NSA et al. can not only collect even more comprehensive data, but also have the means of correlating it to individuals in a relatively accurate manner.

One positive result is that one really needn't bother with preserving anonymity on the Internet, as any privacy efforts are today nullified by advances in government data gathering and analysis powers.

Sad, but entirely predictable.

Terrorists working on the inside are the most dangerous ones. It might be a good idea to look at each programmer's contribution to the program.

In other words, it might be a good idea to analyze the program writing style of each programmer involved in the project of writing that program. Otherwise, terrorists could be writing secret functionalities into the program or deliberately putting subtle bugs into the program.

5. Regarding files
I guess that means each and every one of us on DU probably has our very own FBI or DHS file

Pertaining to FBI files, Americans should use FOIA to get whatever information the FBI has on them and then find the Warrant they used to attain the info.

We can all get them to read more than they want to by putting together words like bush, spying, assassinate, revolution, etc., etc., etc. They do see key words lumped and if everybody did it they will have much homework to do to spy on us very effectively. I would say most of everybody on the DU is on their shitlist anyway, but give them too much to do like this is my way of giving those Rovians republicons the middle finger. Do you hear me now??????????????????????????????

GOD never told us that we had freedom of speech. We were only endowed with intelligence, rational thinking, and expression to be owned by politicians, barons, and highly paid reverends and worhip at their feet with our labor and obedience.

I mean, it seems like there is usually a freeper-related rant on-line or one of their e-mail rants that is going around. I hope they are finally able to identify the little cretins that put those out.

Oh yeah, that's right. I get it now. They're the ones who probably put them out there so they can get posted and reposted. That way, when anyone complains about the freeper rants or asks for help in rebutting them it makes the government's job of finding dissenters easier.

17. In the late 60's, early 70's, those of us who attended protests expected that we had been
photographed, and that we had our own FBI file. Mine should be thick by now. One of my fondest memories was a protest against Ronnie Raygun in CA, 400-500 folks rubbing blown up balloons. The noise was deafening. Ronnie was furious, called us communists! We were students. :hippie:

18. It must be horrifying to the smarter federal workers, the ones wanting
a pension and a future for young Billy. Knowing full well how ratshit crazy Dick Cheney and George Bush really are in a situation they should have never been privileged to be in.

Then having Ashcroft, then Gonzo and all the suspicious shit from day one of election 2000, 911, Iraq and so many more. There is a certain level of smarts that cannot escape these events, no matter what party they claim if any.

What do you do? Sit there and watch the country fall apart and just keep saying how did it come to this?

Edited on Mon Sep-24-07 02:50 PM by dave123williams
Most of the people who strap on terrorist dynamite vests cannot read or write, the extent of their education being limited to aural instruction in madrassas. Duh.

And, how would they make the comparison, anyway? Did Bin Laden take a creative writing class in college, or something?

This is about spying on Americans, plain and simple.
