We spend all weekend arguing that the President of Iran has a right to speak his mind in our country, no matter what...

Then we spend all afternoon arguing that the Dean of Columbia has no right to speak his mind in his own University.

We spent last week arguing that Andrew "Don't Tase Me" Meyer should not be written off as a mere troublemaker just because he asked "questions that needed to be asked"...

Then we spend all afternoon today arguing that the Dean was quite rude for articulating what most of the country is thinking.

We spent two weeks ago arguing that MoveOn.org was perfectly within their rights to pre-emptively conduct a personal attack on General Petraus for truths we knew to be self-evident...

Then we spend all afternoon today arguing that it was wrong, wrong, wrong of the Dean to attack the President before he had a chance to speak.

And because I criticize Ahmadinejad, I must want Bush to start WWIII with Iran.

And because I assert that conditions are pretty bad in Iran right now, I can't also think Bush is an awful, awful president.

And because I occasionally misspell the guy's irritatingly long name (after typing it so many times today, it was bound to happen), I'm doubtlessly a drooling moron with the IQ of a Fox News anchor.

And I'm probably a FReeper too.

I don't think anybody's arguing that Dean shouldn't have the right to speak his mind. There are actual people who say that Ahmadinejad shouldn't be allowed to speak. Not the other way around.
