Congressional Approval up! (Among Republicans)
Yep, that's right. The most recent Gallup Poll shows that while only 23% of Democrats approve of the Democratically-controlled Congress, 37% of Republicans like what they're doing.

Let me repeat that: In a Congress allegedly controlled by Democrats, more Republicans approve of their actions than do Democrats -- by a margin of 14 percentage points. This represents an over two-fold increase in Republican congressional approval in the past month.

Is there any starker illustration of how the Democrats in Congress are failing to address the concerns of their rank-and-file members? Has there ever been a case where a Congress controlled by one party is more well-liked by voters on the other side?

I'd love to see Reid or Pelosi address this poll and explain why they are more popular among the people who voted against them. I wonder what kind of excuse they could possibly come up with.

1. That's one way to read it...
I say that the GOP faithful approve because Congressional GOP fucktards stonewall everything they can. The deep-red knuckle-draggers LOVE a gridlocked "Dem-controlled" Congress.

3. why is the minority able to stonewall the majority?
and if that's even possible, why didn't the Democratic minority stonewall the Republican majority from 2000 to 2006?

7. I thought this was a very valid question
Since you seem to be the Civics professor in the house, maybe you can explain it to us:

How does the minority obstruct ANYTHING in the House of Representatives? How are they able to bring their bills to the floor when the vast majority of Democrats disapprove of them?

How are bills in the Senate being passed with such low approval among Democrats? Can't a single Democratic senator put a hold on a bill? Can't 41 filibuster? How is it that abominations like the FISA bill are even making it to the floor, let alone being passed on for Chimpy's signature?

This is more than just a simple case of stonewalling. The Dems a continually caving in to Rethug demands and tactics. If there was a true interest in stopping this criminal regime, they would be stopping it.

And, BTW, which minority tactic is preventing Waxman, Conyers and Leahy from enforcing the subpoenas that are being ignored by current and former BFEE officials?

8. way to avoid the question, champ.
i'm familiar with Government 101, thanks, and you haven't answered my questions. in what way can the minority "stonewall" the majority? i can't come up with a single one. you, however, seem to have some arcane knowledge of Congressional Rules of Procedure that no one else (including Harry Reid) seems to have. so tell us, oh wise one, how can the minority "stonewall" the majority in Congress, and why didn't the Democrats "stonewall" the Republicans from 2000 to 2006?

9. I'm guessing he's going to say "filibuster", even though it doesn't apply in the House

And any stonewalling tactic, even if it's valid, cannot explain why the Democrats refused to use it themselves for the first 6 years of the Chimpolini Regime.

19. It's like watching a cat play with a mouse
The cat brings actual claws and teeth to the party, while the mouse just has to sit there and squeak.

Just don't have the time to do someone else's homework. Arcane knowledge of procedure not required.

5. And all the other blank checks
I wonder how RWers like being imprisoned without charge based on "classified" wiretaps. Dictators rarely bother to protect their followers from their "police" forces.

The only thing passed in the Democratically-controlled congress last week was the resolution condemning MoveOn.org. :grr:
