Fine. Criticize the speech or action, but don't trash stand up people in the House or Senate.

Don't characterize Barbara Boxer as a mouthpiece because of a plan she supports of splitting Iraq. Could it be, she genuinely sees it as a helpful move?

Don't call Leahy a coward or clown becuause he voted for the MoveOn resolution, disregarding 32 years of liberal advocacy on a wide range of issues. I have my guesses on why he voted for it: none involve cowardice or being a "clown".

Don't call Waxman or Conyers useless. They've done and continue to do a lot. It may not measure up to your exalted and probably impossible standards, but that hardly means they're useless.

The leadership leaves a lot to be desired. Individual dems are working their butts off to effect positive change and mitigate the disatrous policies of bushco.

rant off.

3. I get to express my opinion and if you don't like it you get
to tell me to go jump in a lake. Don't like that system? Tough. That's how DU is structured.

11. LOL!
yeah, because we all know that it's just sooo easy to squelch opinion on DU. Seriously why would anyone even try? And as for trying to control other's behavior, that's equally silly. I don't have any illusions that I have some magical power to control people by dint of my opinion.

16. Reread your post. You were issuing commandments.
I merely told you that you don't get to tell others what to do. You aren't the leader. And, apparently, you aren't even aware of the language you're using.

2. You're preaching to a webforum filled with 'armchair quarterbacks'
it's much easier to be critical then to actually be in the shoes of the person they are criticizing.

It's easier to bad mouth a candidate then to understand where he or she is coming from.

And we tend to forget that our elected officials including democrats represent everyone in their district - not just democrats and definately NOT democrats that live halfway across the country and have little say in their re-election.

I will gladly be critical when any democrat does wrong but I still think it's much better that we have these democrats over any republican.

But what the hell do I know

6. What is your opinion on why Leahy voted for the MoveOn Resolution?
As an admirer of Leahy, one of the few politicians that I've admired for their integrity, I can't fathom the apparent sellout.

12. From what I know of Leahy
and I know quite a bit, including knowing someone who was on staff for him for years, that ad, quite simply, rubbed Leahy the wrong way. My guess is that he saw it as counterproductive and the name calling/implied name calling, likely pissed him off. He may be a tough s.o.b., but he's also big on civility. In fact,a few years back, the NYT did an article about how he's the last gentleman in the Senate.

I think it was a mistake that vote, but I don't think it had zip to do with selling out.

14. Oh for fuck's sake. Can you even read?
Evidently not. Nothing in the OP is even remotely related to your kneejerk, mindless and doctrinaire characterization of it.

Go, er um, well even if I can't say it, I'm sure you know what I'm telling you.

bye bye.
