Poll question: Are you the worst enemy of the religious right?
I had posted to another thread that it seems like the worst enemy of a member of the religious right would have to be a gay, vegan, liberal, magna cum laude atheist minority woman who has had an abortion and takes birth control pills. Sounds about right?

Well, I got to thinking--and that's a dangerous thing! So I thought it would be interesting to see some answers! For the argument's sake, combine the abortion/birth control in one.

You can find this very enlightening quiz at: http://www.worldviewweekend.com/test/register.php.

You will have to pre-register, which I did as Seigfreid Wilson, 39, of Kansas!

BTW, not my real name...

And I will create a new post for the quiz.

60. What a funny quiz!
I'm beginning to think I might have ended up with one of the lowest scores possible! I think my opinion was counter to just about every single opinion of a fundie or whoever else developed that thing! What's funny is that they worded some of the questions such that even if you answered on either end of the scale, you were still admitting to being a radically religious right-winger.

Your classification is: Communist/Marxist/Socialist/Secular Humanist Worldview Thinker

Your score is: -55 points of 170 possible, -32%

Oh, and another thing!!! You don't fucking have to be a goddamned Marxist/Socialist or Communist to be a fucking liberal! Jerks! Assholes!

I'd like to do it again and see if I can get -170 points.

That was too much fun.

40. They're in huge conflict, actually...
...according to their rapture requisite, we're all supposed to take back the holy sites of Israel, then Jesus comes back and we all go to hell with the rest of the heathens. But till then, they hafta hold their noses and deal with us so that Zionism can continue.

But they'll always hate us for crucifying that Jew Messiah of theirs. Dang, no wonder the fundies are so fucked up! Between all that spiritual conflict and sexual repression, my head would explode!

(PS...ethnically and culturally Jewish here, but I'm a complete agnostic who believes in science, evolution and fervently hopes humans learn to use their awesome brain power to take us into a beautiful future.)

Can I get credit for the magna cum laude even if I don't have a four year degree? I can dig up my SAT score from 7th grade, pre-early to mid 90s recentering, if you want.

I don't take birth control pills because they're rather expensive, but I use other methods and I've been married five years and don't have kids, so can I qualify for that too? Ooh, and we don't wear rings and I didn't take my husband's last name and we got married in normal clothes in my car in a drive-thru chapel in Pigeon Forge. That's gotta count, right?

89. Liberal atheist woman here, too. Can I get credit for
the abortion?

I have never gotten pregnant, but I volunteer as a clinic escort. That's where I'm headed this morning.

Your wedding ceremony sounds sane. I cringe every time people piss and moan about other people not providing free unlimited alcohol (which means the cost of the wedding tops 10K. Ugh!)

I knew I would never change my last name when I was eight, and if I had kids, I'd insist that the girls get my last name while the boys can take his. All this at age 8. Seemed logical to me then and still does. When asked by my parents what I'd do if future hubby wanted all family members to have the same last name, my 8-year-old self said that if it meant so much to him, he could take my name. Parents were horrified. I just laughed. Of course at age 8, boys were icky and me and a friend wondered why two girls couldn't wed. This was back in the 70s.

I still think two women (or two men) should be able to marry each other if they want. I still think my idea with names is the logical and equitable way to go. Both names are kept and have a chance of being passed on.

That's got to be worth something.

They will inevitably lose almost all of their most intelligent children and will become more and more dull and uninformed.

Most fundies have never even read one entire book of the Bible, let alone the whole thing.

And the book they *have* read is in the Old Testament.

I'm also an active Mormon, and most Evangelicals don't like that either, so that's got to be worth something.

vegan - I guess I feel kind of guilty eating meat, but I dont have the motivation to do so.

liberal - When I look at my positions, I dont just take what is the "liberal" postion, I try to find ou what is the best solution. But on most issues, I find the liberal position is the best, so I guess you could call me a liberal.

magna cum laude - still in college, but I give myself about a 50/50 chance of getting Magna cum laude on graduation

atheist - Yep, and I hate religion.

minority - I guess if you cant atheist as a minority Im one, but I certain this isn't what this referring to.

77. Anyone with a functional brain is the worst enemy of those pinheads.
I don't think it has anything to do with gender, diet, race, or even (lack of) religion.

For the record, I'm an occasional meat-eating, white, nominally atheist* male who believes in evolution, science, skepticism, and enjoys sex.

And I have one of these on my door:

That seems to be plenty enough to piss 'em off.

* I categorize myself as an atheist in terms of the political debate in this country. I think labels, particularly when it comes to metaphysics, are inherently self-limiting. For one, not too many people seem to be able to agree on what the word "God" means, so how do I know what, precisely, I'm NOT believing in? I don't believe in anything resembling the "God" of the big Western Monotheisms, that's for sure. I also identify as Buddhist, Taoist, Discordian, and as a Philosophical Free Agent.

Without any of us, their own doctrine creates their enemies from within their ranks.

OMG, a friend and I used to laugh hysterically about the subgenious! My friend still enjoys a chuckle about it now and then. Of course, this was circa 1984 when we used to have a good time of it. We picked up the literature at an SF convention, probably one of the ones in Boston.

90. Wouldn't Jesus be their worst emeny?
Having read the bible cover to cover, both Old and New Testaments (did not read Book of Mormon, so I can't comment on that), I propose that the religious right of the most frothing at the mouth kind fear Jesus' ideals more than anything. Look at what they support and what they vote for.

Read the New Testament and you will find:

Jesus saying that a camel will pass through the eye of a needle before a rich man enters heaven. Oh dear, you mean we can't just BUY our way in? How will we keep the riff raff out?

Jesus overturning moneychangers in the temple. Wait a minute? Can he DO that? What about free trade? You mean I can't tell you to donate money to Republicans? Wait a minute, isn't Rome a republic? And that makes the Romans REPUBLICANS!

Jesus befriending the outcasts. Not only a Samaritan, but a woman, and he told her to go tell everyone else, in other words, Preach it, sister! But didn't Paul tell Timothy that women are to keep silent? Well, yeah, that was Paul writing a letter to Timothy. Remember Jesus broke all the rules. Not very Lawful of him, even though that rule came long after this little incident.

Jesus holding up outcasts as the people to emulate. (Good Samaritan, anyone?) What if they're terrorists, oh heavens!

Jesus bucking authority (pharasees and the Roman soldiers). Dear me, we can't have that!

Jesus healing people for free. Oh my goodness, a FREE health care plan for the riff raff. How can we stop him?

Jesus and the crowd of 5000+ when all of them shared the inadequate supply of loaves and fishes. I imagine that when food started being offered, it multiplied via other people chipping in what they had. Oh horrors! SHARING! How socialist of them!

See a pattern here? Thus, I put it to you that of all the historical/fictional/currently alive people in history books, novels, and real life, the scariest of all is the one they claim to worship. Things that make you go hmmmmmm.
