Peace, Corado Chiarlo ..... Peace |
|
Babe died in Italy, on the breakout from Anzio, on May 28 .... eight days before his twenty-first birthday.
If you're watching "The War" .... this makes sense to you.
I'm crying my eyes out here.

9. Saw that--I was sniffling the whole time his sister read her letter-- |
|
I knew he was probably killed, but even seeing it coming, I still got choked up. Saddest part was how he always lied in his letters to his mother, trying to convince her he was safe and eating very well (and as those of us with Italian mothers know, that is of the utmost importance to them!). He was such an unselfish kid--worried more about his family than himself.

10. RIP, Babe. What a kind person. He refused to let on how bad things were for him. |
|
His mother simply fell apart when she received the telegram.
She could not deal with the loss.
We cried at our house tonight...for him and his family.
