Bill Clinton, Eatery At Odds Over Chelsea Photo
On Tuesday night, President Bill Clinton demanded that a Manhattan restaurant remove a picture of his daughter Chelsea.

The picture has been up for years, but now it's posing a problem.

"She doesn't want to be involved with advertising for the store," Cremin says. "That's up to her. It's her God given right, no?"

For whatever reason, former first daughter Chelsea Clinton wants this photo taken down from inside Osso Buco in Greenwich Village. She's so serious she has recruited her father, former President Bill Clinton, and a team lawyers to see that it's done.

2. I was thinking about Chelsea yesterday
Most of us want our kids to do better than we did. That is a part of the American dream, the upward mobility.
Well, for Chelsea, if both of your parents have been president, what can you do to exceed what they did?

3. Sorry, Chelsea
It's unfortunate that you have famous parents, but MANY places display photos of "famous people" who have been in their establishment..

It might be better to just sign the damned picture..and maybe write on it.." Food...so-so
Service- lacking.. I recommend " name another place here).."

12. I'm not so sure anyone can use your likeness without consent
In films, for example, you have to get written clearance from anyone who may appear in the footage.

If Chelsea has not consented (or objects to) having her likeness used in a restaurant, for advetising purposes, she may be on strong grounds.

5. the Owner says that Chelsea
is like a "daughter" to him? Um, I think they should DEFINITELY take the picture down. And, besides, the food there just isn't that good. It's kind of one of those places a tourist might stumble into for an "authentic" Italian meal and walk out with a belly full of heavy-as-lead meatballs that were drowning in a kinda-think-it-might-be tomato sauce.

8. Go Bill. Go Chelsea.
Looks like the restaurant owner called the media for a little free publicity - what a pig.

Take the damn thing down if she wants it down. Her mother wasn't running for President when it went up. Now she is and Chels doesn't want him to give him free publicity.

Maybe she doesn't like the food.

This would piss me off.

14. This is a tricky one...
Did she pose for the photo?

Are there pictures of people all over the wall? Did she understand at the time it would go on the wall?

Has the restaurant benefited from displaying the photo? How would you show the financial gain tied to use of the photo?

What is the complaint excactly? What laws are being violated? What are the damages they're seeking?

Have other public figures been successful in similar lawsuits?

Has anything even been filed?

21. Some of the facts are there...
but if she posed for it, and knew it would go up on the wall, i'd say it's a done deal. implied consent.

15. I've always thought the Clintons (not my favorite people) did an excellent
job with Chelsea considering the environment she grew up in and all she went through with her parents' problems being made public.

But now it seems as though she's following in her parents' footsteps by calling in the artillery (dad) when something is not to her liking. Like the Clinton/GQ strong arming.

I certainly understand her feelings and they should be respected. But if the owner is a jerk, just blow it off -- otherwise you'll come across as a privileged spoiled brat. Which she kind of did in this instance.

16. Any of us would have the right to do the same thing, for whatever our reasons, and
we wouldn't have to justify them to anyone. So the restaurant got five years of publicity out of it. They can be happy with that.

19. I do not know the history of the photograph and
how it got there in the first place, but if she wants it down, take it down. Chelsea is the best thing that happened to the Clintons. And I doubt Bill "demanded" the picture be taken down. The media are experts at making mountains out of molehills.

22. I think she's had some 'work' done and may not want the 'before' pictures
so prominently displayed. http://www.goodplasticsurgery.com/archives/004880.html

I'd chock this up to an understandable insecurity having taken so much public abuse for her looks as a teen.
