4. Funny thing - all three are veterans, and two are decorated heroes.
Can't find any of those among the neocons. When we are in the camps, Tweety will have done his part.

8. Aha
McGoven volunteered for the United States Army Air Forces during World War II and served as a B-24 Liberator bomber pilot in the Fifteenth Air Force, flying 35 missions over enemy territory from bases in North Africa and later Italy, often against heavy anti-aircraft artillery. McGovern was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for saving his crew by crash landing his damaged bomber on a small Mediterranean island. McGovern's wartime service is at the center of Stephen E Ambrose's book The Wild Blue <2>, which the author dedicated to McGovern's wife Eleanor.

20. I was proud to work for McGovern in '72, my first vote. (And my fellow volunteers. . .!)
There were two lovely ladies, one a news person at Detroit's Channel 4. . . I was a young dude with long blond hair (one or two of those hairs survive to this day. . .)

Ahem. At 56, the memories are great, but it's disgusting that people the caliber of George McGovern were dismissed then and still ridiculed today. Nobody better ridicule George McGovern to my face. One of the all-time great Americans.

5. Powerstructure won - there was no election fraud, no media complicity, it was
all Gore and Kerry's fault.

Tweety is pulling this shit now because of Dan Rather fingering media for protecting Bush complicitly in BOTH ELECTIONS.

7. If so-called meme pushed, then helpful to Bush, Hillary that way.
Media wanted de-regulation, so they took a guy that was too spontaneous and attractive for Gore, per the media, and deconstructed him as someone else in 2004. Couldn't find unethical, so that's what they came up with, and lying about military service.

Difficult election during war and fear, knowing what to say that was unacceptable. He'd choose bolder, I think, but I'm not sure that would have helped the people on the fence.

Guess Tweety is building up Hillary, by denigrating Kerry, when he won, just not counted. Through no fault of his own in a partisan GOP state and lack of evidence.

For the record, Kerry's intelliegence, integrity and passion for the issues appeals to me.

29. That is cool with me, but doesn't preclude military service for a guy born in 1945.
I respect peace corp service in 60s and 70s, and co status. I have no ill will toward guard service during Vietnam or any of the various strategies people used to avoid------just hat it when they denigrate those who did serve in Vietnam.

I think Mathews is a phony and his program is calibrated to keep liberals watching but in a no-win, demoralized state of mind.

24. This election is not going to be decided on "Tweety issues,"
and it wouldn't hurt to start calling them that! What I mean by Tweety issues are his two-bit opinions regarding the persona and/or virility of the candidates. Nobody gives a crap about his petty judgments and he needs to KNOW that!

27. McGovern speaks truth and was a war hero, Gore won in '00 popular vote
and electoral vote (if allowed counted). Kerry was a war hero and won 59 million votes in '04, more than any other democrat in history and won the electoral vote if Ohio had not been stolen. All of these men stand for peace. How are they losers? Only a loser like Tweety would say such a thing.
