You must read this.
It is long. It is also compelling, and absolutely worth the read.

http://www.buzzflash.com/articles/interviews/077

Habeus corpus. Gitmo. Enemy combatants. Censuring MoveOn. And on and on the list goes. THIS is what we are fighting.

I am well and truly scared that America will not wake up until you cannot get cold beer or cable t.v., and we're still a long way from that. Please read this, and please email it to your friends and family. Wake up, America.

3. Wow. This is my manifesto from now on:
Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 07:20 PM by blondeatlast
You and I are in the same position -- and everyone on the Internet. We have to switch our model of leadership and return it to the Revolutionary American model of citizen leaders. The Congress is not going to save us. The mainstream media is not going to save us. The pundits are not going to save us. The U.N. is not going to save us. The European Union is not going to save us. There is not a force on earth that can save us, except for our own talking to each other, clearly and urgently, to explain and convey the nature of this threat, and then for us to take radical action NOW. So that's why I wrote it this way.

Edit: Proud to be the vote to place on the "Greatest" page.

Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 07:35 PM by snappyturtle
Had to come back and Kick! and Kicked it must be. Here's a little sample. Sound like anyone you know?

"To the average person, is it just too much to comprehend, too much to think about, it's not what we're concentrating on, so in the end we're the frogs being boiled? We're busy entertaining ourselves, or working, or being with our families, or going out and having a drink. It's only people like yourself, or people who really follow this, who are aware that we're being boiled."

more:

"You and I are in the same position -- and everyone on the Internet. We have to switch our model of leadership and return it to the Revolutionary American model of citizen leaders. 20. Her Cranial-Rectoscopy Didn't Quite Take
The OP is quite correct in saying: "And on and on the list goes. THIS is what we are fighting."

True enough. But like with Al Gore's "Assault On Reason," Naomi Wolf may have finally woken up a bit but she's only "with us" right up to the point of actually doing or recommending any real fighting. (Yes, that means impeachment.)

I'm sure she means well, but (like most) she's still not woken up to the reality of "Rule By Signing Statement" and a regime that considers any legislative or judicial action to be merely "words on a page."

Just what are you expectin' from her?

35. I said she has, a bit. Just not enough to be useful.
It's all well and good to reiterate the horrible state of affairs but when it comes to action she becomes oxymoronic.

She says "Congress is not going to save us." But what is her course of action? A "ten-point legislative agenda." All we need to do is "force Congress to restore balance."

Gosh, why didn't we think of that?

She asks "What did the Founders intend to have happen when there was a leader that systematically dismantled their checks and balances, and systematically dismantled our system of government?" Then claims they wanted a "debate" that we need to make "breathing room" to have.

No, the founders wrote down what they intended. They intended for that "leader" to be impeached and eventually removed. The "debate" happens between those two things.

Like Pelosi, she puts impeachment off the table. Like Leahy, she buys into "restoring" habeas corpus (or not) -- rendering it a fungible commodity, as opposed to an inalienable right. Like many others on the left, she's looking to "start a movement" -- instead of actually moving. Like many on the DC cocktail party circuit, she remains a member of the "bipartisanship" cargo cult.

And like the rest of the belway-blinded DC/Euphemedia Analstocracy, she has no real recognition of the "facts on the ground." That this regime is happy to dismiss even a unanimous act of Congress with a "Signing Statement Interpretation." That the same chuckling dismissiveness would greet a unanimous verdict of the (formerly) Supreme Court.

I would agree that as "an insider" her book might do some good to awaken others to the really real reality. But by her own description, it is at best a clarion call to deliberation, not action.

28. We will always have a beer and TV even when we don't
have anything else. Go to any shanty town in any third world country and they have TV and recreational beverages and drugs. That's the one thing the ruling class makes sure the proletariat has to keep them complacent. It goes back to the Romans providing the plebs with breat and games so they didn't get rebellious.

GRIP is how you get back to citizen leadership. Do you want to know what GRIP is?

Get
Rid of
Incumbent
Politicians

Never re-elect anyone. Ever. Ignore ever campaign ad. Never read one piece of literature. Simply go into that booth and pull the level for "the other guy" whoever that may be. Can you imagine what that would do to our political system? Can you imagine the fear that would run through every elected official? When those yahoos realize that no amount of money, no amount of spin, will secure their jobs, the paradigm will shift. Will they listen to the profiteering, high-roller campaign contributor? Or the little guys who line up in high schools and fire halls to pull a little level each November? the only way to take back our government is to take the politicians out of it.

GRIP!

Get Rid of Incumbent Politicians.

Spread the word. Fan the flame. Take back our country.

dictator to assert full control and tighten the noose around our necks.

Meanwhile, all we as a nation care about is cheap hamburgers and beer, and plenty of shows on cable TV.
