A re-imagining of the Impossible Dream

To dream ... the impossible dream ...

To get the people of America to wise up and learn about politics!

To fight ... the unbeatable foe ...

The foe is intolerance, greed, corruption and collusion!

To bear ... with unbearable sorrow ...

The weight of things going so horribly wrong here in our country!

To run ... where the brave dare not go ...

Running toward our destiny has become havoc wreaking!

To right ... the unrightable wrong ...

The 2000 and 2004 election results--the wrong can never be corrected, though;

To love ... pure and chaste from afar ...

Our soldiers are quite afar, but they do love their country, more than the CinC;

To try ... when your arms are too weary ...

We're all weary at this point, I think--we can't summon up much more outrage when no one listens anymore;

To reach ... the unreachable star ...

What star? The fundies all say they're only the devil playing tricks on us!

This is my quest, to follow that star ...

Our quest and thirst for knowledge seems sadly irrelevant right now....

No matter how hopeless, no matter how far ...

Yeah--there comes a time when we finally realize how futile our desires are;

To fight for the right, without question or pause ...

We've fought for the right (meaning the correct path) without question or pause for 6 1/2 years now;

To be willing to march into Hell, for a Heavenly cause ...

Hell seems a lot better place if the fundie "heaven" is the reality now--


And I know if I'll only be true, to this glorious quest,

I can delude myself for just a little longer, thank you;

That my heart will lie will lie peaceful and calm,

Death is looking like a better place every day now though;

when I'm laid to my rest ...

Ditto!

And the world will be better for this:

It'll be a lot better if people will open their eyes and realized how fucked we really are;

That one man, scorned and covered with scars,

Covered with scars? Oh yeah--more emotional scars than I can ever imagine!

Still strove, with his last ounce of courage,

Yeah, I guess I'll keep trying, even though I've downloaded all the horror more times than I can imagine!

To reach ... the unreachable star ...

It's still unreachable, but maybe by the time this century ends, things will be better.

I hope so.
