What a stupid question!

GREAT! Our potential new president has to show how Christian they are! Which means that our new president has to believe in some unseen "God". Why does Timmy have to ask about Bible verses? Do we require that our candidates be delusional?

1. I'd love it if they asked "What's your favorite quotation from ANOTHER holy book?"
I see mostly blank stares in response, but it would give something useful to the viewers, I think.

is no longer operational? Is there anything left of our Constitution that IS operational?

Didn't any of the candidates say "fuck you, that question is out of bounds, you disgusting fuckwad"? Because that's the ONLY correct answer to such a question!

22. It's not so much the Bible part of the question as it was
the backdoor tactic to try to make our candidates look like losers to the Jesus-freaks who are currently rudderless (after being cornholed by shrubco) in this cycle - attempting to drive them back to the right.

There, for sure, is much wisdom in the Bible. But I don't want anyone else running this country that uses some imaginary "God" as his/her guide rather than summoning the wisdom from within him/her-self that should be a hallmark of a true leader.

24. Matthew 6:5-15
When you pray, don't be like the hypocrites. They love to stand in the synagogues and on the street corners and pray loudly. They want people to see them pray. I tell you the truth. They have already have their full reward. When you pray, you should go into your room and close the door. Then pray to your Father who cannot be seen. Your Father can see what is done in secret, and he will reward you.

Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 10:21 PM by JVS
Now for the matters you wrote about: It is good for a man not to marry. 1 Corinthians 7:1

10 Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who were asking him for a king. 11 He said, "This is what the king who will reign over you will do: He will take your sons and make them serve with his chariots and horses, and they will run in front of his chariots. 12 Some he will assign to be commanders of thousands and commanders of fifties, and others to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and still others to make weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. 13 He will take your daughters to be perfumers and cooks and bakers. 14 He will take the best of your fields and vineyards and olive groves and give them to his attendants. 15 He will take a tenth of your grain and of your vintage and give it to his officials and attendants. 16 Your menservants and maidservants and the best of your cattle and donkeys he will take for his own use. 17 He will take a tenth of your flocks, and you yourselves will become his slaves. 18 When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day." - 1st samuel 8:10-18

Finally this
So he called him in and asked him, 'What is this I hear about you? Give an account of your management, because you cannot be manager any longer' Luke 16:2

John 8:32

"And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."

For one thing, it was the motto of the old Alexandria (Viginia) Gazette, at one time America's oldest daily newspaper. Two, and I love this, it concisely shows the correct use of "ye" and "you."

More, more. OK, one from "Moby Dick."

Matthew 6:19-21

"Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:

For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."

I think that is so good.

Once upon a time, people would read books and know where these words came from.

It was not considered an sign of ignorance.

Not a bible verse, but relevant considering there is suppose to be a separation of church and state.

"Say nothing of my religion. It is known to God and myself alone. Its evidence before the world is to be sought in my life: if it has been honest and dutiful to society the religion which has regulated it cannot be a bad one."

If so, please try and get out more. You're in a HUGE minority, and sound ignorant and uninformed (I'm sure you're not) when you refer to believe in God as such.

Most of our party, including myself, is Christian so I think it is entirely appropriate that they speak to their voters about our common faith. Good question, Tim!
