Dems can't make guarantee on Iraq troops

By BETH FOUHY, Associated Press Writer 10 minutes ago

HANOVER, N.H. - The leading Democratic White House hopefuls conceded Wednesday night they cannot guarantee to pull all U.S. combat troops from Iraq by the end of the next presidential term in 2013.

"I think it's hard to project four years from now," said Sen. Barack Obama of Illinois in the opening moments of a campaign debate in the nation's first primary state.

"It is very difficult to know what we're going to be inheriting," added Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York.

"I cannot make that commitment," said former Sen. John Edwards of North Carolina.

Sensing an opening, Sen. Christopher Dodd of Connecticut and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson provided the assurances the others would not.

And in January they were all trying to claim they were for setting a firm deadline for withdrawal. BS!

Kerry took to the Senate floor and dismantled the Republican talking points on Iraq

3. You still have the choice to support a candidate that will.
Kucinich, Richardson, and Dodd to some extent. Who says you have to vote the way party bosses say you should? They will not be my guide nor will the media be my guide.

5. I think
Edwards had a bit more to say re: troops remaining in Iraq. He spoke of a multi-national force to provide humanitarian aid/protection...not a presence of combat troops.

IMHO, No matter who is elected, we will continue to have some presence in Iraq, we just need to assure that the presence is not an occupation force and we have brought in the Iranians, Syrians, etc. in to work toward reconciliation throughout the entire region.

6. I thought the cavemen was just a new tv series. Now we know we know where the inspiration came from.
