So does anyone think Rather will settle out of court?
Is he in it for the money or redemption? If they offer him fifty million will he settle? That is my fear here. CBS just can not afford for this to go forward..They give him the money and he drops the suit and CBS says they have been cleared of wrong doing...

1. If he takes the money and runs, I'll be disappointed. Plus, he doesn't
need it AFAIK. I think he wants to get his reputation back, and maybe do some damage to the teflon one who so richly deserves it.

2. No. I doubt he cares about the money.
It's not as if he doesn't have enough $$$
to live his life in comfort. He's got more
than he'll ever need.

He's not undertaking a MAJOR headache like this
for money.

10. I agree.
Even more important than the money is that Rather wants the truth to come out. Usually, out-of-court settlements in civil cases like this include agreements that neither party will reveal/discuss details of the agreement. It seems rather unlikely that Dan would accept anything like this.

4. How much is he suing for? 70 million? Would you walk away with a 10 million out-of-court deal?
Most people would, as the outcome is more assured than going all the way to the wall with a major multinational corporation.

7. take the money, write a book, do the lecture circuit, talk shows....
he would probably reach more people than court. After Fitzmas, I am not so hot on court. And what ever happened to Valerie Plame?

11. I think he probably won't. I don't think he needs the money, he was well paid for years at CBS...
...from the outside, it looks more like he wants a moral victory, not monetary.

12. I thought it was strange
in previous articles, saying he choked up. How can someone be resolute, when they are choking up.
