Bush 'lacks moral authority to judge anyone' - Cuban Foreign Minister
Bush 'lacks moral authority to judge anyone'

September 27 2007 at 01:03AM

New York - United States President George Bush lacks moral authority to judge other nations, Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque said at the United Nations General Assembly meeting on Wednesday, attacking the US leader as an arrogant liar.

Perez Roque was responding to Bush's UN speech on Tuesday, when the US president called for "free speech, free assembly and ultimately free and competitive elections" in Cuba.

"The long rule of a cruel dictator is nearing its end," said Bush, referring to ailing Cuban President Fidel Castro.

"It was an embarrassing show," said Perez Roque.

"The delirium tremens of the world's policeman. The intoxication of imperial power, sprinkled with the mediocrity and the cynicism of those who threaten to launch wars in which they know their life is not at stake."

Cuban Official Assails Bush
By EDITH M. LEDERER Associated Press Writer
UNITED NATIONS Sep 26, 2007 (AP)

Cuba's foreign minister launched a blistering attack on President Bush at a U.N. General Assembly meeting Wednesday, a day after the U.S. leader spoke of a Cuba no longer ruled by Fidel Castro.

Felipe Perez Roque told world leaders that Bush "came into office through fraud and deceit" and has "no moral authority or credibility to judge anyone." He also accused the American leader of authorizing the torture of prisoners at the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay.

On Tuesday, Bush looked ahead to a Cuba without Castro, who hasn't been seen in public since undergoing emergency intestinal surgery last year.

"In Cuba, the long rule of a cruel dictator is nearing its end," Bush said. "The Cuban people are ready for their freedom."

Cuba slams Bush for acting like world's policeman
27/9/2007 10:04

Cuban Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque yesterday accused US President George W. Bush of acting like the world's policeman, saying that he had no right to judge any other country.

In a speech at the general debate of the UN General Assembly, Perez Roque said: "With a foul language and an arrogant tone, President Bush insulted and threatened some ten countries; he gave orders, in a firm and authoritarian fashion."

Bush told the assembly in Tuesday's speech that "in Cuba, the long rule of a cruel dictator is nearing its end," urging the Central American country to have "free and competitive elections."

Besides Cuba, Bush also passed judgment upon some other countries.

1. Roque's rhetoric slyly reminds everyone that B*sh is a drunkard.
I don't think his use of terms like "delirium tremens" and "intoxication" is coincidental!

4. "The delirium tremens of the world's policeman." -- an EXCELLENT metaphor!

Good grief! Let me count the ways! That's an outstanding metaphor for the rot that corrupts our body politic!

(Yes ... I appreciate artfully mixed metaphors.)

6. I tried to find the whole transcript but couldn't. Maybe it'll be
easier to find later when more of these stories hit the net. Of course this will be all over the corporate media. :sarcasm:

7. Wow! Good one! Great remark from the first article you linked:
If not for that alleged election fraud Perez Roque said, "we would have been spared his presence yesterday, and would have listened to President Al Gore talking about climate change and the risks to our species".
Now THAT'S a speech you want to hear at the U.N. :woohoo: :woohoo: :woohoo:

Hooray for Foreign Minister Felipe Perez Roque!

11. A good idea for the US, to have "free and competitive elections" without voter caging, etc.
