I think that, to ME, is the real question I have right now about all of this (see below).

Iran and Iraq. Been researching all of this off and on since before the war started.

Bill, Al, Hillary, bush, cheney, and others said Saddam had WMD, Gore even said 'Saddam must go', we have seen reports about wmd's in Iran and Iraq from when both parties held power.

And we have heard the rhetoric for so many years now it is hard for the avg joe out there not to believe there must be something to it all.

Spend some time at http://www.google.com/unclesam searching through govt docs on Iraq and Iran and use the names above (and others).

NOW ---> if WE on DU are right about them both being wrong (in both deed and actions/resolutions/votes/etc) it makes me wonder WHY they have publicly said such things?

Do they know something we don't? Is someone/group pulling the strings - and if so, what do we get different when we fight against one party on this issue and elect people in our own party who feel the same?

This is not the only issue (thank god) so there are still about 5 million+ reasons to vote for a Dem over a repub - but this one issue is a biggie :)

1. They were lied to and they know it
And I think they are too proud to admit they were duped.

2. Not according to the BCCI report - they know EXACTLY what they're doing,
and they have some powerful Democrats who agree and provide cover for it all.

Gore has slipped those bonds. I believe he has now crossed over to the anti-corruption, open government wing of the party. His book, Assault on Reason, certainly indicates open government is a priority for him now.

practice what he is preaching? :)

3. The received opinions of the ruling class are manufactured by the big money
It doesn't matter what party they belong to. Dems and Repubs have long tended to defer to "national interest" on foreign policy. National interest means "American economic interests" in the world. Despite their being almost a ruling class religion preaching to the contrary, those interests are not necessarily or even usually those of the working people of the US. Just look at what globalization has done to American wages and job security.

6. People believe Gore...
though not necessarily on Iraq... and on issues whose credibility can be argued against as well.

5. Or international leaders;
the French, British, and Germans have both spouted against Iran at one point or another...

Not everybody can be wrong!
