Kucinich: Congress Must Stop Funding The War
WASHINGTON - September 26 -Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH), issued the following statement after opposing H.J.Res. 52, the continuing resolution for FY2007:

“We do not have to fund the war. The Democratic leadership must tell the President NO to any additional funding. We can separately appropriate money to bring the troops home. The only thing required is honesty, integrity and a willingness to end the war,” Kucinich said.

“The Democratic leadership is playing into the Bush Administration’s hands by continuing to fund the war. What this Congress must realize is that we do not have to fund this war. We must leave Iraq now. That is what the American people want. That is why they voted for Democrats to take control of Congress last November.

“Each year this war is getting more and more costly—both in the amount of money spent and in the number of lives lost. Now this Congress is providing more funds so the Administration can continue down a path of destruction and chaos.

“The Democratic leadership in Congress needs to take a stand against this President and say they will not give him any more money. That is the only way to end this war and bring our troops home.”

2. Dennis speaks for me!
And ya know, it's so fucked that Dennis needs to spend as much or more energy being critical of our party on Iraq - rather than the rethugs.

5. totally fucked
It is obvious that we need to Impeach Bush and get the hell out of Iraq, before we get Hillary in or another warmongering Dem to help continue it to Iran...there must be some way to make these people listen to us...besides elections because those are fixed! (and no wonder they are allowed to ignore us and aren't interested in fixing our election process)

12. The man continues to speak truth to power
Sad that he's having to speak to both sides of the aisle.

Dennis has been right on the issues all along and is the best candidate that the Dems are fielding for the White House, which is why I'll be voting for him.

14. I think you have to be able to put the political bs aside in order...
to vote for Kucinich. He speaks the truth and gives the American people a much needed voice in a crucial time in history. I dont think most can see what he could do to revitalize Americans and get our country and politics back to the people. I think many are dumbed down and truly believe the bullshit that they here from their candidate over and over with no results, just the same old politics. And thats is what we do not need, we need real change for America!

Before I found DU and learned about Dennis Kucinich, I was a Obama supporter and Edwards after that. I didnt just pick Obama and say its all or nothing, I continued to educate myself on all the candidate to see who could benefit me and my family's future. He by far is the one!

15. Who's he kidding
Why is it our Dem leaders talk about stopping the war...then come out of classified sessions in congress (Ways & Means, etc.) and they vote to keep funding this mess.

They know something the public doesn't ... pretty obvious.

Kucinich is the ONLY one trying about stop the funding on this mess...seems he must be out of the classified loop.

26. Right because everyone else
with that inside info has obviously made the best choices concerning Iraq haven't they? It's been working out so well and everything they pounded the drums for has been true! Looks like it's going to be a smash hit in Iran too! :sarcasm:

The only loop he's out of is the golden coronation from the corporate media whores.

20. Dennis has been saying this all through the dem votes to continue funding
I sure as hell wish they'd LISTEN to him.

Dennis cuts to the chase without all the political speak.

JUST DON'T GIVE 'EM ANY MORE MONEY.

22. If you like Kucinich,
then send him some money. If you don't have a lot of money, then send him a little. Let him know who his friends are.

Kucinich is the only candidate who says what he thinks. The others all seem to be calculating as they speak. They make forceful-sounding statements that don't really mean much when you analyze them.

Kucinich gets my support and my vote for the California Primary.

25. He Still Comes Up "Short"
Sure, he's best of a bad lot BUT...

...you can't "defund" anything with a regime perfectly prepared to fund lawlessly.

...and you can't "stand against this (p)Resident" by only impeaching cheney.

...and you can't command Euphemedia attention if you don't say "torture" and "war crimes."

This is why he's gaining no traction.

29. Agreed, but not hopeless
This is not as "over" as the DC/Euphemedia Analstocracy would have us believe.

Any of the current candidates, or even someone new, could vault to frontrunner status by opting to go full-bore on impeachment and using it as a cudgel against the rest.

I'm not predicting that, but the mother lode of support and money remains out there to be seized.

We could yet see a second rise of deaniasm on the national stage.
