SCOTUS is crucial. So let's talk about it with a broad view.
The court needs to be packed, IMHO. The GOP and the media will be vicious in how they frame and analyze this, but IMHO, it's essential. My ideal candidate will understand this and commit to doing just that knowing full well it won't play well.

My ideal candidate will feel very comfortable with very much strengthening of the separation of powers.

My ideal candidate will be willing to address the absolute anti-American decisions of the current Supremes. How do we reclaim Brown vs. BOE? the Hatch Act? Plenty of others--those are the ones I can think of now.

I personally would not like to see a litmus test, just a commitment from the SCOTUS nominee to support the Constitution above all else--including party. But of course I want to see Roe v. wade preserves--will the SCOTUS be wiling to overturn a Federal ban?

So yes, SCOTUS is very important and I'd like to actually debate it. And you?

1. BROAD view?!? Is that a freudian slip?
 <TEASE!!!>

The SCOTUS will not change under HRC because Bush-Co has gained her the OVERWHELMING Powers of "The Unitary Executive."

Methinks don't count on either habeas corpus or other liberties for INDIVIDUALS (vice corporations) to be increasing under an HRC "Unitary Executive" Presidency.

What we need to focus on is Congress - so that we can tap down the power of our budding totalitarian state, i.e., if The Executive Branch's power grab sticks. :scared:
